View Full Version : OT: Dickau hired by Blazers

Per Twitter the Blazers have hired Dickau to be part of their player development staff. Wonder if this will be the end of his broadcast career?

If true, it will certainly temporarily be the end of his broadcasting career.

I liked Dickau and Fox together in the booth.

I thought he planned to be a broadcaster. I think that is what he got his degree in. But, since the Blazers are in his neighborhood, maybe it makes sense right now.

Well that was short lived.

Congrats on his new gig. Now Fox is left alone with Heister doubt he's thrilled about that.

He is on his way to become a General Manager for an NBA club, a dream job. Good luck to Dan.

Hate to lose him, but Fox and Heister will still be really good.

Glad he's finally getting to coach...I think he will flourish (and close to home). Best of luck!

Dang, good for him but him and Fox were the best thing to happen to the broadcast team in a decade. Big loss for the viewers.

Nothing on any Portland media about this. I don't understand Twitter or its reliability, but assuming this is true I wish Dan the best of luck working with the Blazers. Current Blazer management is in disarray and Paul Allen appears to have a highly unusual management strategy, but if Dan can launch himself into an NBA management career, more power to him.

I hope Dan can continue with his annual Vancouver game watch event fundraiser for his hoops organization.

Dan wouldnt have been the one I voted off the island, but 3 was a crowd for the broadcasting booth.

What exactly does some one on the player development staff do? What was Dickau's major in college?

What was Dickau's major in college?

Dan told me he majored in communications.

I'm thinking more on his way to being an NBA coach.

When the Trail Blazers announced their coaching staff Wednesday, a familiar Clark County name appeared on the list Dan Dickau.

The former Gonzaga star who enjoyed a standout career at Prairie High and a six-year career in the NBA was added on as a player development coach.

I gave the Columbian sports reporter the "tip" on Dan joining the Blazers, based on this Forum post. He forgot to credit me!

Another GU alum, one I happen to know VERY well, also majored in Broadcast Studies, and is hosting "The Fan" this afternoon in Portland. I'm sure it will be mentioned in her sports update. :D

Her? I am listening to Isaac and Big Suk on the Fan right now and there is no sign of a "her", unless you have some gender reassignment information about either Isaac or Big Suk that is not available to the general public:p

If a GU alumni needs fans (or maybe a little advertiser support), I am always looking to help, but not clear who you are talking about.

I've seen 'her' on The Fan and she's great! She makes me proud to be a Zag. Ok, she's my neice and I may be a bit biased, but she does a great job!

So was he commuting for the games to Spokane? The Columbian said he currently resides in Vancouver. Good luck Dan.

Agreed. Dan will be missed, but Heister has lost almost all of his Ehloness and Fox is still da' man. Maybe one day we'll see a Dickau vs. Ehlo head coaching matchup.

12-08-2011, 09:52 AM
Ehlo's lasted with the Cavs. Oh wait, it already has.
