SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- The West Coast Conference has announced its men's basketball Player of the Week award-winner for November 21, 2011.

    KEVIN PANGOS, FR., G, GONZAGA
In his first collegiate start and his second collegiate outing, Gonzaga freshman guard Kevin Pangos scored 33 points, had 6 assists and just 2 turnovers in a nationally-televised home victory over Washington State. Pangos was 9-for-16 from the field, 9-for-13 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the line. He added 12 points, 3 assists, 3 steals, just 1 turnover and 1 blocked shot in 29 minutes in a win over Hawai'i Saturday in Vancouver, B.C. Congrats!

        The Future is Now.

And Few says that while Pangos’ range and stroke is impressive, it’s the kid’s composure that has stood out the most:

“The best thing about Kev is he’s put his time in. If there’s a mistake or a missed free throw, it’s not for lack of preparation. He’s a really quick study being a coach’s kid, so that’s great because we throw a lot at you when you’re first starting in our program.”
“You’ve got to hit the Zag standard.”

And if it happens, those rites of Autumn become the rites of Spring.

Very happy for Kevin. Such a nice kid, very well raised, non pretentious and a fully team player. He has a very bright future. This won't be the last time he gets this type of honor.
When I spent some time with the players last Summer, I knew him and Gary would be spectacular as tandem frosh.

Rob is everything I thought he would be as well.

Spangler needs minutes to show his skills and doggedness.
No doubt Few snagged a terrific class of kids.

            Look for further improvement.

Agree with Few.. As impressive as his shooting has been, what impresses me the most, is that he looks like a top 25 team starting PG. As a somewhat under the radar freshman, that's pretty impressive.
