According to Blanchette, via Twitter:

Sounds as if Gonzaga plans to redshirt Kelly Olynyk and Kyle Dranginis; played 3-on-3 with former Zags today

Right decision, this is great news!

The tweet doesn't mention Sarbaugh, but it's a safe bet to assume he's redshirting, too. Maybe he was the third member of the 3-on-3 team.

They are not going to need Olyny?

At the court now, Kelly, Kyle, and Chris are in street clothes. Spangler is dressed and warming up.

Tom Hudson just confirmed them as redshirts on the radio as well.

Wow, Kelly with an incredibly mature decision to work on his game for a year.

To hopefully include some serious weight and strength work.

definately what I wanted. KO is a beast as a redshirt senior in my college hoops video game.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! I really believe that all three decisions will be extremely beneficial to the future of this team. I can't wait to see how much progress Olynyk makes towards his senior season.

Good Gosh.

I hate to think of how good a redshirt sophomore in Kyle Dranginis can be.
Remember that Josh redshirted and Pendo was headed there if not for team injurys. Dower redshirted as well. There are other notables I have missed (Frahm?, Sacre?)

All of those players (excluding time lost from Josh's off court "issues") came back ready to rock n roll. That year of practice and becoming a student of the game can work wonders.

If you can get top notch players to redshirt, you have your program running on all cylinders with respect to "reloading" as opposed to "rebuilding".

It all has to do with repitition and time spent within the system.

I agree that Kelly is doing a super mature thing. He will get his masters and at the same time improve his body to be able to work as a 4/5. During his last 2 years he will be averaging a number of minutes that will improve his game. This will greatly improve his chance for playing professional ball in the NBA or Europe.

Good luck to KO, Kyle and Chris enjoy the journey and good luck through your years at GU. I am looking forward to this year and you will ensure that we will have many more great years to come.

Edi still suspended for 8 games...coaches expected at least 2. NCAA probably in no hurry to hear appeal.

So if Olynyk transfers out does he have to sit out another year? Once upon a time if you redshirted a year and then transferred you were immediately eligible.

So I guess the 2 recruits for next year are Chris and Kyle...sorta. Makes a lot of sense. Kelly will look back at this decision someday and realize it was the smartest thing he ever did.

6'11" Jeremy Eaton played 2 years at JC. Transferred to GU. Played his Jr. year. RS'ed. Started his Sr. year. All WCC 1st team. Made it to within a minute and a half of the final 4.

Might as well redshirt Spangler and the Mathis' if they can't get in the effing lineup against ewu.

First time I've wanted to punch coach few in the face...mind boggling rotations w the players we have.

That was a hell of a game against UCon. One other thing. The Zags were even better the year before. Would they have made the dance a year earlier if Eaton could have contributed?

Certainly all speculation, Zagger. Not sure that earlier team was better, but Eaton needed the year to get stronger.

I just couldn't agree more....it is a win win for them and the program and I hope they see it that way and I suspect they do..shows great trust in Mark

Wow. Classy.

Two parts frustration, one part humor.
