From Jeff Goodman (http://eye-on-college-basketball-recruiting.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/29884776/33203384), praise to Tommy Lloyd by fellow coaches:
Survey: Peers pick top recruiter, overrated, etc.

With the first day of the early signing period here, it's easy to put all your focus on the kids who are inking their names on Letters of Intents today.

But here at CBSSports.com, we take a different look as well - one that had more than 100 high-major Division 1 coaches respond to the following seven questions about their peers and recruiting.
....
Regardless of affiliation, if you had to pick one assistant coach to get a prospect, who would it be?

1. Russell Springmann, Texas
2. Jerrence Howard, Illinois
3. Butch Pierre, Oklahoma State
4. Dalonte Hill, Maryland
5. Tommy Lloyd, Gonzaga
Thanks to SSF for the tip.

Wow, great props to Tommy. And while you may not like it, clearly Romar is a great recruiter. Its the coaching that he doesn't seem to be as good at.

I disagree that Romar is a great recruiter. There is more to being a great recruiter than bringing in blue-chippers. A great recruiter knows what his team needs are and addresses those needs to form a highly functional team. A look at Husky teams of the past show that they aren't very well constructed which is why they underperform so frequently.

Anyone willing to remove their hate-the-huskeis glasses for a minute and objectively look at the recruits that Romar has brought in, you have to agree he is a very good recruiter. Of course it doesn't hurt recruiting in the least to have the location, venue and budget enjoyed by UW. As mentioned above, Romar's true failing is his lack of great coaching skill. His recruiting prowess is further demonstrated by his decision to pass on getting the c**p beat out of him every year by the Zags (i.e., by eliminating the annual beatdown by GU more local talent is likely to look favorably on UW).
