Crap. Only two games in, and we might already have logged our first asterisk W.

PULLMAN Washington State basketball coach Ken Bone said Tuesday that three projected starters are "questionable" for the Cougars' season opener Monday at 23rd-ranked Gonzaga.

Point guard Reggie Moore (groin), wing Faisal Aden (concussion) and forward Abe Lodwick (sprained foot) all missed WSU's lone exhibition game, an 88-41 rout of Lewis-Clark State last Saturday.

If the three players remain sidelined, Bone said he would "probably" start freshman DaVonte Lacy at point guard, Fresno State transfer Mike Ladd at wing and senior Charlie Enquist, sophomore Will DiIorio of Bainbridge or sophomore Patrick Simon at forward.

thanks for the update, AR.

I heard Aden & Moore are 'questionable' and Lodwick was 'doubtful'. I realize its a subtle difference, but could be huge in regards to playing or not.

Aden = concussion 2 wks ago vs Montana

Moore = groin pull vs Montana as well (however, heard he's back to drills & such...)

Lodwick = foot injury in practice late last week and has been in a walking boot ever since. Has not practiced at all since injury.

We knew Lodwick was out based on earlier posts, but Aden and Moore are definitely surprising.

Having said that, they do have Michael Ladd & Devonte' Lacy as very capable back-ups. Lacy had 21pts in 22 mins & Ladd had 14pts in their exhibition blow-out.

Ade Lodwick could be huge, b/c he'd be assigned to guarding Elias. High effort/hustle kind of player who is tough underneath, but not much of an offensive threat. Brock Motum, DJ Shelton, Pat Simon, & Charlie Enquist are their only legit posts in the lineup -- all questionable rebounders.

They are going to have to lean on their guards to make shots...a lot of them.

Edit to add: oops, just saw the most recent post above!

I heard they all got hurt in the same sequence. What kind of shenanigans do those wheat boys partake in???

We do need to win it first!

Dont like the injuries but do like how our schedule is set with increasingly difficult teams leading up to Notre Dame, Illinois, Michigan, Zona... good ramp up for the guys to get into gear at the right time.

Coach Ken Bone Press Conference (http://www.youtube.com/wsucougarathletics#p/u/8/Jx433cUHjLY) - November 8th, 2011

...the Zags have one of the best front courts in the Country.

Interesting to hear Bud Withers call in at the very end of the Conference...

Bud Withers: Coach Bone, what do you know about the Gonzaga guards, specifically Gary Bell Jr & Kevin Pangos...

be more dangerous than a healthy one. Besides, it's an old saw between coaches to lower everyone's expectations while planning for a "surprise" win. The victim is the one surprised, mostly.

Bone is an excellent coach. If/until he forfeits, beware.

It'd be all the more embarrassing IF we lost to them...

Moore being out would be huge for us. On the other hand I would love for our guards to get the experience against a really good guard like that.
