Butler loses tonight vs Northern State, 53-50.

Exhibition games are meaningless, yet losing true-grit player Matt Howard, do-it-all guard in Shelvin Mack, and super-defender Shawn Vanzant seems to be having an effect early-on...

They'll be ready to compete by the time we play them, but just another example of a D1 team dropping a pre-season contest.

Northern State has a really good program. Winningest all time coach at all levels just retired a couple years ago (after losing a leg in a car accident).
Their facility (Aberdeen, S.D.) holds 8K & it's usually full.

Bet that was a fun game to watch. Like Butler, Northern really gets after it on D too.

He actually kept coaching after the leg amputation ...

Another example of why the win against Carrol is a great win. The Zags took a veteran, disciplined team to the cleaners. A team favored to win it's conference.
