View Full Version : Texas Scrimmage

Does anyone know if the Zags have a scrimmage planned with Texas or Others as they have in the past?

Not likely to happen. Too difficult to schedule this year. A team cannot miss any school time to participate in a scrimmage under NCAA rules.

Technically, they have room for one more scrimmage...I say we put a GUBoards team together and hit the court!

It'd give the guys an opportunity to bang against someone other than their teammates and we'd get an up close & personal look at the team.

So, who's got skillz around here?

I'm more of a SF hybrid with the height of a middle-school PG...

I've got a PF game in an overweight PG body.

Kiddwell will coach. OK, Baldwinzag, go deep! LIZF, you block the linebacker!:adored:

I've got some decent PG skills.

The only bad part is...is that I am pretty fat, and getting slow, plus I can't really shoot that good anymore. Also, my lateral quickness is nearly non-existent because I have bad ankles.

But like I said, I can run point if you guys don't care about all that other stuff.

PS- I have a headband.

I would think they should put on a scrimmage with BBall alums that remain local and able to play.
Unless of course this violates some type of NCAA rule...

Would be fun for the fans and good for Zags hoops in general.

It's settled then!

No PG controversy here; Woohoo is our guy. The starting GUBoards' point guard.

I'll play. I was a double-double machine in high school - averaging 2 pts and 2 rebounds per varsity contest. Unfortunately, that was all before I blew out my knee pushing two kids in a jogging stroller. Since then, I'm not nearly the dominant force that I used to be.

I use to look really good on the court playing the one or five positions BUT now, if ya'll need, I can look really good on the bench and standing up during time outs...just can't stand too long...

Here's a picture of me in action...not the hairy dude with the ball, but the other guy who is wide-open at the top of the key (just seconds before I made the game-winning shot!).

The glory days! Man, I miss being in such good shape...

Kurt Vonnegut wrote a story where, in the future, the United States has the office of the Handicapper General. It's his job to make all people equal, so a smart person has a buzzer installed in his head that goes off every 20 seconds to make him dumb, a good looking person has to get plastic surgery or something to look average, etc.

Point is this: 30 pound weights on each ankle for the Zags and I'll play. And maybe some kind of device to turn the tall guys into hunchbacks. Like that football player, the hunchback of Notre Dame.

ZagtotheCoeur

I'm 6"4" with a decent shot, however I also have bad ankles, it's starting to sound more like a game of keep away, we might do okay if there isn't a shot clock.

No lie, some years ago I played in a game with Stockton (not the little one, the big one. Well....not so much BIG....but the one that is now in the Hall of Fame).

Anyways, I played against him one game, and I was playin LOCK DOWN defense, and he was really getting frustrated. So, after my team won, I was on the sidelines posing for some pictures.....Stockton comes up from behind and gives me a friggin right hook to the face!!!!

One of my fans snapped a picture of it, I'm gonna see if I can find it real quick.

Don't let woohoo fool you about being slow, and not being able to shoot anymore....I know for a fact that he can dunk from the free throw line...I got to see it in person last March!!

He can shoot too!!! You would be WISE to let him be the PG on the team!!

I used to be called dead-eye for my shooting prowess as one eye seemed always out of focus now I've got two eyes out of focus so I need a new nickname.

Somehow Lead-Bottom, what Mrs.blahla calls me, doesn't seem like a name that will stike terror and fear into the minds of opponents.

How about Fang they'll never know which tooth I'll be using.

Know I played at least three years of "D" league... But I think that it was for the beers after the game. Back then I actually had "hops". I could actually touch the rim 1 time out of 5.

Man, no wonder you played lock down, You look 9'7" with huge guns, though a cut up face. And what a nose, it looks almost the same size as Stockton fist.

Do you still have eligibility?

Sorry. That's my spot, and I have a quarter inch on you. Not to mention the 40 lbs I have "bulked up" in my 3 and a half redshirt decades. Pretty sure I can use my low center of gravity to shove Harris off the block. And if not, I'm not above biting kneecaps. And as they say, old age and treachery will defeat youth and skill.

i'd be glad to come off the bench as the 3 point specialist
except for the fact i'm whiter then the artic snow
shorter then DS when he is barefoot and im in shoes
sneaky slow
have at most a 9 inch vertical on a good day when my hammy and knees aren't barking too bad
and can hit 2 out of 10 from the free throw line consistently
and can't see the rim from the three point line without my glasses

but i do have mad turiaf rooting skills from the bench

oh and the only pair of GU basketball shorts i have are from the mid-70's and trust me no one wants to see me in those..:vomit-smiley-007:

Beer with hops, is there any other kind of beer. Without hops, beer is like my shot flat and off the mark.

I think I have the best possible attributes to coach this menagerie of pseudo basketball players. I have the stare of Frank Martin, the patience of Bob Huggins, and most importantly the body of Rick Majerus.

I have no defensive scheme, nor any idea how to develop a play, which pretty much makes me perfect for the head coaching job. Iím at your service any day but Monday, as long as itís between one and one-thirty Tuesday thru Friday. I do like to sleep in on the weekends, so if you really need me I will be there, but I will probably be a little late, okay a lot late, but count me in.

I can be cheerleader as long as it doesn't require much jumping, running or standing on someone else's shoulders. I can wave the "G"-- the sign, that is, and fan the team as they come off the court. How 'bout it, Bob?
