Go big fella! Counting on you to have a big year!

Ha! I wanted to post a pic, and the one I stumbled across doesn't give a very good shot of Elias, but I like it because the sight of Big Rob's hand planted in Mitchell Young's face at the game in the MAC on January 27 made me laugh:

In all fairness, it may have been the gravitational pull of Young's chin that caused that.

The cross on the wall certainly adds to the photo's composition.

a lot going on in that picture...

Why does Da 'Hoff feel compelled to sniff Rob's elbow? Odd.

Also, #22 is screaming in agony following Carter's titty twister. Brilliant tactic going for the rebound!

Sacre sends a message to Young: "talk to the hand because the face ain't listening".

Harris is definitely riding the pre-season hype train.

Book me a First Class ticket, b/c I'm ready to watch him return to form and dominate this season!

My only concern with him is pressure. Can Elias handle being 'the man' on this team? He already has a tendency to force things on the court and considering he might not even be the best overall player on the team, will he share with others if he's not getting it done? He was a turnover waiting to happen on certain occasions last season.

Also, has he developed another move on offense besides dribble, jump step, dive the shoulder, shoot? Or the spin move to the outside? He was figured out by defenders and referees during his Soph yr. He got away with numerous travels his Frosh yr b/c it was tough to catch the extra step in his jump step drop move. It was unique. Now Coaches are complaining and he was whistled for at least 10 travels last year and offensive could. He must learn to find a way to utilize this pretty effective move w/o taking the extra step and slamming into defenders. Can he do it?

Lastly, his spin move was scouted and stopped in his Soph campaign. How many times did Elias did the ball stripped by smaller forwards or guards last year? Countless. It wasn't just a nagging shoulder injury and a couple extra pounds holding him back -- those issues don't get you travels, offensive fouls, and stripped during moves -- it was the fact he was a known commodity and defensive focus.

He went from being a scorer and shooter his Frosh yr, to a garbage man his Soph season. His athleticism will always allow him to get the put-backs, offensive boards, or alley-opps or throw downs, but can he create his own shot and scoring chances again?

This will be interesting to watch...especially, since we have more options to work with in the backcourt this year i.e. Gary Bell's heralded ability, Carter's emergence, Stockton's savvy, Pangos facilitating and shooting, Hoff looks stronger, etc.
