Limited practices have been going for a while. I think Friday or Saturday real practice begins. I think.

First full practice if Friday

Traditionally it's always been Oct. 15th, which is Saturday.

Thanks. I kept thinking it was the 22nd, but then thought that it was later than normal.

The 15th, by the book, but it's coach's choice.

I believe the official first day of the regular season is the Friday closest to October 15th, which in this case is Friday October 14! Yay!

I've meant to ask this question a long time ago, now the time has come: How are the NCAA rules for off season practices? I've read alot about pick up games with the old dogs after training camp in july, I think. But when can the players officially work out with their coaches? How does the whole system work till the official practice start beginns?
I'm curious and hope you can help me out.
P.S.: I hope Mönninghoff is still getting minutes this season and hope he will adjust well to the new competition at the 3 spot. Also I hope he won't be used just as a spot up shooter this season, but that's kind of a coach decision if he wants to develop players to the next level or just see the immediat success.

Here's my basic understanding, 2Germans4Zags:

Official practices begin on/around Oct. 15 and they are allowed 20 hours of practice a week with coaches.

For a couple weeks or so leading to this date, they are allowed 2 hours of practice a week with coaches.

And prior to that, coaches cannot teach or coach players at all.

"We're talkin bout practice, man..."

OK, way over that quote, anyway:

The NCAA rule is that teams can begin practice on the Friday nearest to October 15th. That means October 14th this year if a team so chooses -- numerous teams began practice yesterday evening.

However, it appears we are going with tradition and kicking things off today...awesome.

Edit to add: noticed another poster already mentioned this above. Apologies.

Does anyone know if we are going to have a scrimage against Texas? I know we do not get much info about it, but the team would learn alot about themselves.
