This follows up the 15 year old thread the other day. To me, this an absolute disgrace and eveyone is at fault, save for the kid himself. 10 years old, sheesh!

I watched the video link. Seems the kid has his head on straight for a 10 year old. Certainly his father has a huge influence on his lifestyle, but so do fathers that don't spend time with their kids. I like this better.

The kid does look like one heck of a player though. Young atheletes are nothing new. If you want to see the extreme, check out what the Eastern Block (Soviet influenced) countries were doing with their Olympic teams in the 70's and 80's.

That story is almost a year old, so he might be 11 now!

I would be in favor of some type of rule that limited or banned coaches from recruiting players not yet in high school. It really seems ridiculous. Let kids be kids.

If he's 11, maybe it's time for a website? :argh:

And don't forget the cell phone. You never know just when he might feel the urge to phone Tim Floyd.

And yet the outcome of all this may not be determined by a 10 year old's own propensity either to burn out or blaze to glory - but by his genes. His father is a failed basketball prodigy, partly because he never grew beyond 5ft 10ins. Justin's mother is 5ft 2ins. Unless he defies his heritage, he will soon be overtaken by all the boys who make it into the NBA teams. The average NBA player is more than 6ft 7ins tall. Despite his talent, his rocketing basketball career could be over before it has barely begun. But maybe some team will end up with an amazing coach answering to one of Justin's nicknames: Shorty.

Mr. Floyd must be on this kid like white on rice.

Give me a #*&#&@! break what kind of scumbag would recruit a kids so young? Wait I'm sure USC has a scout talking to his parents right now.
