For those of you who don't know the WNBA draft is April 11. The linked article tells you the time and where to view the draft. Interesting quote by Seattle Storm coach Brian Agler, who "compares Vandersloot's skill set to that of current Storm point guard Sue Bird who is widely considered the best point guard in the world!"

They would have to trade quite a bit to get that pick. But... attendance is important, it's a struggling league. Sue Bird won't be around for forever, CV could learn from the best and be close to home. You would have an even more interested fanbase if the local darling was playing for WA state's team.

I am sure they have looked into making something happen.

told me today the "feeling" is she could go in the 1st round somewhere between the 3rd & 8th selection.

I haven't read anything about the pre draft chatter except this thread, so thought I'd add this as fruit for thought if it hasn't already been stated elsewhere.

Asked if CV has a preference, her friend said she just wants to go somewhere.

My hope is she lands with a team willing to bring her up to pro speed with a little patience and a lot of encouragement.

Great pic. Courtney sure "cleans up good"!

I almost didn't recognize her. And Mr. ID didn't, when I asked him who was in this pic. "Uh, Kelly, Geno, I don't know who the young lady is."

Neither of us had ever seen her without her pony tail.

Looking forward to seeing her and the rest of the team at the banquet.

is the banquet formal? .....

Not at all. They let me in.:D

We've only been to the men's banquet, going to the women's this year.

But, yes, they're formal, if you consider anything but Zags gear to be formal.:D

Seriously, folks range from Friday casual to very dressy, so go how you feel comfortable.

You might have noticed from my pics with the men's team that the players dress up a bit, mostly dress shirts and pants with some ties and sweaters. I am guessing that the Lady Zags will be at least that dressy and maybe dressier.

And a note--the fact that they have moved it from brunch to evening might make a difference in how people dress.

My and my friends past experiences at the Lady Zags banquet, is the Lady Zags dress up very nicely, thank you. Far better than the men. Of course that is from the male point of view.

Anyone know the kind of $$$ we're talking for a 3-8 first rounder in the WNBA?

Here is some current WNBA salary info. Haven't located anything yet regarding possible first round bonus pay:

According to the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement, rookies in the league are guaranteed a starting salary of at least $36,570 starting in 2011. That salary will increase to $37,260 in 2012 and to $37,950 in 2013. Those selected in the third round of the draft receive the same salary as that guarantee. Those drafted in the second round receive a minimum of $37,100 in 2011. First round draftees are guaranteed $38,534, while picks five through eight receive $43,205 and the top four picks receive $46,708 as of 2011. Teams are permitted to sign players for a higher amount but must stay under the salary cap of $852,000.

Swish Appeal's Consensus WNBA First Round Mock Draft: Vandersloot moves up.

Her and D-Rose will own that city!

04-07-2011, 03:46 PM

This mock draft has her rising from #12 in their 12/1 list, #8 1/1, down to 10 on 2/1, back up to 8 on 3/1, then up to #5 on 4/1.

I was dubious about posting the 4/1 list  until I saw that all of their mock drafts came out on the 1st of the month.
