It appears there is a new rising point guard on the Gonzaga horizon, with a very familiar last name. Redshirt freshman David Stockton, the son of N.B.A. Hall of Famer John Stockton, is beginning to write his own history as a player.

but I work in journalism and have seen too many talented friends laid off in recent years. So yeah, I kvetch about this.

After checking Magic Johnson's tweet (http://twitter.com/magicjohnson)re: Stocks, it actually read:

"I'm enjoying watching my old rival, John Stockton's son play for St. Mary's. Like father, like son."

The NY Times correctly omitted this portion of his tweet. I think the Black Jerseys must have confused Magic.
