Lunardi has us as an 11 seed and rising.

And the Gaels are an 11 seed and falling.

I think 11 would be great. I would love avoiding a 1 or 2 until at least the sweet sixteen.

agree, an 11 seed seems pretty awesome right now.

Am I missing something? I see Gonzaga as a 12 at that link?

It says 11 playing West Virginia in the Southwest bracket in Tucson.

I know beggars can't be choosers but I would absolutely love to switch the teams from the Charlotte #6 & #3 with the ones listed for Lunardi. It would be great to get another crack at UNC in the tourney and I would like the odds of this GU team. I think the tougher matchup would be Texas A&M honestly.

GU has three top 50 RPI wins now (Marquette, Xavier, St. Mary's). Okie State is at 56...Baylor 69. Currently 3-6 record against top 50. That Memphis game hurts with their RPI at 34.

You think about "what if" with this team...
SDSU #4 (lost by 3)
ND #10 (lost by 4)
SMC #49 (lost by 2)
Memphis #34 (lost by 4)

The seeding line could be so different if they had picked up 3 of those games. All were decided inside the final minute.

take this bracket in heart beat.

We match up and can beat WV

Then we could get return grudge match against SDS

THen we could play Kansas or Arizona/lousiville

If I'm not mistaken this Bracket cannot happen.

The committe doesn't like to line up teams that have played earlier in the year in the first two rounds do they?

Or perhaps I just dreamt that heh.

An over-rated Big East team out in Tuscon?? I'll take that in a heart beat.

Last time Zags played Coach Huggins he got tossed, along with the radio color guy! I like it.

Mich. St. on the rise after getting smoked at home by Purdue?

This season I would say an 11 seed is our absolute best option because of future matchups. If I assumed a 10-12 seed(we don't want 8-9 and there's absolutely no chance of anything lower than an 8 for GU) here's what potential matchups look like by seed:

10- 1st round vs 7 seed, 2nd round vs 2 seed, 3rd round vs 3 seed

11- 1st round vs 6, 2nd vs 3, 3rd vs 2

12- 1st vs 5, 2nd vs 4, 3rd vs 1

Obviously we'd rather have a 10/11 than a 12 since there's the potential to play a 1 in the sweet 16 and we want to avoid that as much as possible. Also I consider the difference between playing a 6/7 in the first round to be essentially nil but the difference between a 2/3 is slightly bigger IMHO. So I would rather see an 11 (don't play a 2 until the SS as opposed to the 2nd round).

Of course none of that matters if we don't make the NCAAs, so BEAT CSBU!

St. Mary's would KILL Xavier if that bracket played out. (We beat X by 20.)

I seriously doubt that. The X-Men have appeared to right the ship and that was a tough stretch for them and it was ages ago. Who would have thought in the end they would be GU's best quality win? I really thought it would be Baylor but they continue to disappoint.

Xavier a 6 seed and rising?!

What have I been missing in the A10 this season?

Not saying the Muskateers shouldn't receive such a high seed considering how they've performed in their respective conference, just came as a bit of suprise when I saw X's name that high in the latest Bracketology.

WOW, we played horrible vs Xavier--and sans Gray--yet still beat them by 10+...we're much improved since then as well.

Yes, Xavier is a much improved team. And to them, that loss should be looked upon much like the St. John's loss to SMC. Both played cross the country at an tough time (11:00 p.m./2:00 a.m. respectively) and tough place (true away games) and tough time of season (right before Christmas/first game of year).

Xavier will be a very tough game in the dance.

Foxsports.com has Gonzaga at....................

#4 team OUT of the tournament.

It was even updated today. Quite a disparity of rankings.

I really don't think we can rely on an at-large bid with any sort of confidence. Gotta win the conference this year. Go Zags!

I certainly hope not, since they play Michigan at Michigan on Sat! Go BLUE!

I was watching basketball final on ESPNU with Lunardi and he was comenting on the losses of VT and AL stating these teams better hope either GU or SMC wins the WCC or we could get 3 teams in. I'm not sure how good this statement is, it would mean GU and SMC are at large bids.

I have a feeling that the St. Marys win got us an at-large birth, and as long as we don't lose in the semis I think we are in for sure. Another loss to St. Marys (most likely tourney final opponent, and I really like our chances against anyone else) wouldn't hurt enough to knock us completely out. We can beat St. Marys again, and I would love to do that to remove all doubt but with that being said as long as we win the next game I think we are in the NCAA tournament.

The best news about us being an 11 seed and rising is it gets us out of that 'First Four' line and makes our spot look slightly less precarious. I'd take it if that's where we ended up but let's be honest.....the REAL dance starts on thursday, March 17th.

I'm stoked with an 11 or 10 seed. But the selection committee always seems to give us an extra hurdle to make us prove we deserve anything. If they give us an 8 or 9 seed, I will seriously cry afoul!!!
