DETROIT, Mich. - (Feb. 18, 2011 - www.GoZags.com) Gonzaga University women's basketball senior point guard Courtney Vandersloot was named one of 11 final nominees for the 12th Annual Nancy Lieberman Award, a national project of the Rotary Club of Detroit honoring the nation's top collegiate point guard in women's Division I basketball. This is the third-consecutive season Vandersloot has been a final nominee for the prestigious award.

Vandersloot has helped the Bulldogs to a 23-4 overall and at least a share of their seventh-straight West Coast Conference regular season title with an 11-0 mark. She became the fourth player in NCAA history and the first player since 1995 to hand out 1,000 career assists, eclipsing the mark Feb. 12 when she handed out 12 assists in GU's win over Pepperdine University. Vandersloot, the nation's assist leader at 9.9 per game, currently has 1,017 career assists to her credit. She also is on pace to become the first player in NCAA history to score 2,000 points and hand out 1,000 assists as she has scored 1,852 points thus far in her career.

Along with being the top assist leader this year and last year, Vandersloot is third in assists-to-turnover ratio (3.02), 14th in double-doubles (13), 30th in points per game (18.2), 31st in steals per game (2.9), 71st in field goal percentage (48.1%) and 98th in free throw percentage (80.7%).

Vandersloot is joined on the list by Cetera DeGraffenreid (North Carolina), Skylar Diggins (Notre Dame), Dawn Evans (James Madison), Melissa Jones (Baylor), Sarah Miles (West Virginia), Jeanette Pohlen (Stanford), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), Sam Quigley (DePaul), Danielle Robinson (Oklahoma), and Jasmine Thomas (Duke).

The criteria for the award are the floor leadership, play-making and ball-handling skills that personified Hall of Famer, Nancy Lieberman during her career. Sportswriters from across the country have determined the final nominee list. They will select the three finalists from the list and one winner at the beginning of April 2011. The announcement of the three finalists and one winner will be made during the Final Four Weekend (April 3-5, 2011).
