The Spangler scouting report from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/115689/ryan-spangler

Bottom Line:
Spangler is not going to wow scouts with bounce and flashy plays, but he is a glue-type that just knows how to win and compete. He has a great understanding for the game and plays it like a seasoned veteran. He should be a solid 4-man at the mid-major level.

That write up was from last May, they use to put the dates on their evals, but took it down. ESPN isn't very current on their updates, they still have Keegan on our roster.

So he's no longer a glue-type guy with a great understanding of the game? :)

What I would say what he is not, he is not a mid-major guy. His game belongs at a high level program (which, of course, is why he is coming to GU).

At the risk of being a party pooper, any award that is based on nationwide voting is a popularity contest and has nothing whatsoever to do with POW or anything else basketball related.

Oh, and this thread is missing a "Meech sucks" post BTW.

These types of polls are completely goofy. We nevertheless take our ballot-stuffing seriously on guboards.

Were some of you involved in getting Gregoire elected?

Sorry, I know. No politics.

Actually I think The Guv's parents were the ones mostly responsible.

And now back to live action: Voting ends at noon Wednesday. Without looking it up, OKC time & WooHoo time are the same, aren't they? If so that fact alone should take a ton of stress out of WooHoo's life.

Ryan is ahead by 1% point, but the Crooked Oak guy is fighting back.

So vote!

Wouldn't we rather have him lose so he has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove?

Just askin.

Ok, I can't resist.

POW in Oklahoma?

What with all the Native American reservations in Oklahoma, are you sure it is not the POW-WOW?

[pause for laughter]

Hard to believe God gave all this talent to one person (me).

Go Bulldogs!

We need to take our ballot stuffing more seriously. Ryan was ahead about 2 hours ago, now the player from Crooked Oak has 42%, Ryan. 34%.
I seem to be the only one stuffing the ballot box.

I was stuffing religiously but I am the only person in America who avoids facebook. The facebook juggernaut is killing us, I think. 5 pts for a facebook vote. Darn you, social networking!

I'm really excited to see this kid play !! He seems like a guy that works hard to out play you in every part of his game! Here are some comments from the OU boards regarding Ryan, check em out

Update Bridge Creek (#4 in 4A) vs Mount Saint Mary (#3 in 3A) tonight. BC 57-37 Mt St Mary
Spangler had 38 points, 14 boards, 6 blocks, 4 assist. He also shot 8-8 from Free Throw line. Pretty good game!!

Keep placing your votes. Ryan is down to Crooked Oaks player 35% - 43%.

So he only outscored the other team by a point? Kinda weak.

This one from the OU board is funny:

The guy is a nice player. I coached against him the summer with my EC jv team. We took them to overtime and i didn't have a player over 6ft tall. He had a nice game but he is not athletic and reminds me of Thompson. He is prob similar to the red head Gonzaga had a few years ago who could shoot it.

fu - while funny...i hope they're wrong. i'm a pendo fan but really hoping spangler is more of an inside force. he needs a couple more inches.
