    fan overexpectations

You know I do not see perfect offense or defense in any NBA team. Why would you expect it in college players. I get get so tired of reading threads comparing our team to some perfect standard someone has set in their mind. Enjoy the kids for their achievments , energy, focus and commitement to an imperfect game. can you not see the beauty in each and every player, their strenghts and weakness and in the joy of the journey of their growth thru their time at Gonzaga. How about talking about the improvements each player has made or the effort they are expending toward that goal. Start the year out with a less judgement on the weakness of our team and instead focus on the the growth and effort. We have a 7 game winning streak, where's the thread about that. If many of you looked at a cow, instead of seeing the whole cow, you would focus on what's coming out of one end. Enjoy these young men. Go Zagss

I don't like to watch lackadaisical, confused NBA teams play either.
    Bonjour tristesse.

Meech had a nice statline, and his D was outstanding.
        Hoff is back healthy again.
Keita is proving me wrong (still needs a shot, tho)
Gray belongs on that Wooden List.

Keita needs to just shoot... he has hit some shots and has shown he can go off the bounce and run the floor.

Who needs to quit shooting (hate to say this) is Stock. Those weren't even close last night

I'm not sure Stockton shot those shoots knowing he would make them. I think he shot them to keep the defense honest and trying to draw the other players away from our big men. But I'm sure that he is going to spend a ton of time getting better.

Perhaps I should have elucidated my concern about the first minutes of the second half in a less cynical manner. I would never anonymously zing another member's rep. I also think that my post was somewhat innocuous. I tolerate much on this board that I find far more egregious and disgusting.

Actually three of his missed threes were very close, barely missed long but on target. Love the arc in David's shot, sign of a shooter, ball drops on the basket instead of off the front of the rim.

                Just my opinion.

Stockton's shot will come over time...

...granted it is hard to accept the son of a 19 year NBA Hall of Famer has a set shot. I personally will bet, based on his pace of progress and on the progress of every other even half as promissing zag freshman over the years, he will develop an accurate enough shot sufficient to eliminate that weakness.

Wait...90% of NBA teams play lousy defense. It's not close to reasonable to use them as a measure of defensive prowess.
We're about a college team with good athlete's who play defense when it's an issue. Last night they didn't as a team play goodefense. Some did and some didn't. Meech was stunning on defense. Gray was good as well. MM didn't see enough and Kera played only a few minutes.
We play defense when it's required. It's gotten better. When a team shoots 58% from 3 and 52% from overall...it's not good. We won that game because of their turnovers. Some were forced and some just happened.

We have allong way to go before we play super D. I expect we will.

                              You obviously don't either:
                              Def. Efficiency Rank- 10th
                              Off. Efficiency Rank- 4th

Hard to make a case for the 10th best D in the NBA playing 'perfect' though I do admit their offense is something to be admired when Kobe isn't in 'Hero' mode.
