The Gonzaga men's 4+ boat finished second in its semi-final heat this morning at the IRA national championships on the Copper River in New Jersey and will be one of 6 boats that will race in tomorrow's final. Last year, GU's men's 4+ boat finished 4th in the nation.

Barring post-race results changes, the 6 boats in tomorrow's men's 4+ final will be:

Gonzaga
Temple
UCLA
Cal
Hobart
Brown

Men's crew is NOT an NCAA sanctioned sport. The IRA championship is THE national championship for collegiate men's crew.

The rowers deserve some recognition. That is a very demanding sport that requires a lot of personal dedication. Being in the hunt for a national title in any sport is special, and we wish the rowers well.

And good grief! Look at all the crew kids on the President's List (http://gozags.cstv.com/sports/m-crew/spec-rel/053107aaa.html)! Derek Clemmensen, Scott Lampe, Nicholas Mather, Scott McCoy, Kyle Van Dyk - and Dean's list: Matt Berry, Sean Finerty, Andre' Gallant, Sean Haffey, Jeff Haguewood, Michael Marsh.

How are they supposed to get any beer drinking done with all that studying and rowing?

Good Luck Saturday, Zags!
