Our 72 points allowed does not bode well against a team that averages 76 but yields only 52.

Saying a prayer to the defense gods before I pack it in tonight.

It's the outstanding piece ron...they play defense. We need to join them in that. If we do, we can win. If we don't, we won't. Simple.

Best free throw defense in the country???? We're screwed.

You did look at who they played, right? That tends to help pad those stats quite a bit. Baylor has not played what I would call a very tough schedule, with the possible exception of ASU. How would our stats look if we played these teams??

Grambling St.
LaSalle
Jackson St.
Lipscomb
Prairie View A&M
Arizona St.
Bethune-Cookman

Not hard to have good defensive numbers against that kind of competition. Methinks the Zags would be averaging close to 90ppg with a schedule like that.

IMHO, it is time for the real Baylor to step up. The only "marquee" win is against ASU who has lost to St. John's. Something tells me they aren't going to have the same kinds of numbers against the Zags.

I'm not worried about how many points we score against Baylor. I'm worried about how many we give up. Gonzaga has not even held a team to 52 let alone average 52.

When Southern dropped 72 on us I knew defense was an issue and when we give up 61 to an NAIA team I know defense remains an issue.

Both games were ones in which the bench played extensive minutes.

Just sayin'

Obviously these are not the teams Baylor has faced but "just sayin" Zags have given up more than 70 points 6 of 10 games. Obviously Baylor has not.

I think if the Zags give up much more than thier average (71) then they are in trouble.

Expecting the #10 team in the country (how did they get that ranking playing scrubs btw) to give up more than 20 points than what they average is a lot to hope for imho.

Rather than look at the level of competition "independent" numbers- look at their numbers as adjusted for competition level. Still early, so there may be some low sample size concerns, but they're minimal by now.
