SPOKANE, Wash. - A second MRI performed on Gonzaga University men's basketball sophomore Elias Harris Wednesday revealed no tear of his right Achilles tendon.

Harris, injured in the San Diego State University game Nov. 16, had an MRI following that game which was also negative, but he felt discomfort after playing two games in Kansas City, Mo., last week and did not practice upon returning from a short Thanksgiving break. He did not play in Tuesday’s victory over Eastern Washington University as a precautionary measure.

Harris was at practice Thursday and is expected to see action Saturday against the University of Illinois in the Comcast Battle in Seattle at KeyArena. Game time is 2:15 p.m. Tickets are still available through all Ticketmaster outlets throughout the state of Washington.

I'm reminded of the movie "Dumb and Dumber":

"So you're saying there's a chance?"

now if the trainers can continue to loosen that tendon over the next few days, he & we may be in bidness. Here's hoping.

Well, that's wonderful. But, "Only You Know and I Know" as the late, great Delaney and Bonnie sang, that something's not right w/Elias. Do you suppose that the reason they submitted him to a second MRI was because he is still noticing a persistant pain and/or discomfort in the area of the original injury?

Seems prudent to assume the worst for Elia's prospects on Saturday. Let us see whether others on the team, as yet unheralded, can "step up" to assume his scoring role. Luckily, we don't have to worry about replacing him defensively, because it's already been established here on the board that he's just a liability in that regard.

So, another opportunity for the youngsters on the team to "grow" when Elias can't go. As Abe might say: "Let's see what this team is made of..." I'll second that.

Heres a tidbit out of the gonzaga bulletin in the article " back court leads the way" about Elias's injury. Reason for second MRI because of the pain and tightness he still feeling

Elias Harris didn't suit up for the first time this regular season. Harris is still recovering from an Achilles injury he suffered against San Diego State. According to Few there is no timetable for a return.
"He just has not been able to practice since we've returned from Kansas City. It's been really tight. He's tried to loosen it up and it just feels really tight. Every day we go into practice thinking it's feeling pretty good.# And it gets warmed up and it just really tightens up on him. It doesn't seem that we have any answers coming out of that area right now," Few said.

night splints, ultrasound therapy, mobility exercises, ice, anti-inflammatories, 2+ hrs of warm-up prior to tip off...

Its GO time, Elias.
