    Be the Hunter, or die

    One of the single most important elements in the Zags vs Illinois game will be for the Zags to be the aggressors, the attackers, the hunters. We simply cannot be put on our heels again, not against a top Big-Ten team like that. If we are the hunters and set that tone from the get-go, a big portion of the battle will be won and the chances of victory that much better. But if we come out and are reactive, pfft, forget it, better luck next time.

    Zags need to have this mindset Saturday.

    Sooooooooooooooo, why can't we have this mindset every game? It seems to me the starting point for aquiring and maintaining such a mindset is the coaches. There was little doubt that mindset existed on both sides of the ball in the Duke/MSU game and I have no doubt it originated from two outstanding coaching staffs.

      The Hunted becomes the Hunter. Good point, BZ.

      We're gonna need to be the 'hunter' from here on out...

        BZ isn't saying we don't or can't have that mindset every game. He's just saying that we'd BETTER have it against Illinois, or we're COOKED BACON.

        There ARE teams that we could come out flat against, and still win. This isn't one of them. Better bring it.

          Not sure we have hunters this year. Kids on this team have combined to be mildcats. Have we had fire in any game this year? EWU doesn't count.

            I thought Rob Sacre looked extremely good last time out. Much better.

            Rob at the foul stripe and Steven from outside. Everyone else get after it on the boards or on defense. Zags might be able to get it done.

              Learning Curve

              The Lovely Mrs75 and I were talking about our upcoming trip to Seattle for the BIS and I mentioned that many on this site are predicting the Bulldogs to have a tough time on Saturday. She commented that even though she is a great judge of hot attractive husband material such as me (ok, maybe she did not say that) she knows little about basketball, but that so far this year it seems that GU is still searching and experimenting and has not identified five players who can play together as an efficient unit. I think she hit the nail on the head, as they say. Time is slipping away for GU to put 5 guys on the floor who click together like the Bulldogs of old. Maybe we can wait until February or March to have everyone healthy and playing efficiently together, but I think not.

              Go Bulldogs! Win the BIS!
              Do not go gentle into that good night,
              Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
              Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

                i'm guessing i won't be the only one that wished Mark Few would show just a bit more emotion on the bench during a game. i know every coach has his own personality but sometimes you have to make a point and this bunch just doesn't seem to have a killer instinct at all. Sometimes a direct reflection of the coaching staff. Last nights game between Duke and Michigan state proves it. Those kids leave it all on the floor every night. Throw a bag of popcorn one time coach Few...........

                            I don't think the coaches have to say that. All they need to do is to play it and go take their nap. lol
