No bid for the baseball team. Shame to see it. Pepperdine got in though along with USD of course.

Fair and square, though, I think. One expert thought GU should've got in (split 6 games w/USD, won season series w/Pepp, etc.) but no whining. Zags had to beat USD and didn't. And being wiped out in the final two games hurt any chance.

With an awesome new stadium, and a near-miss season, Machtoff can hopefully start bringing in more players the caliber of Mortenson, and we'll see better and better Zag baseball teams.

Had a brief conversation with Asst. Coach Gary Van Tol at a MBB game in January & he said that the new stadium was already paying off in recruiting.
I think you'll see the team continue to improve in the coming years with good players & a strong coaching staff. The future looks bright.

[Possible sarcasm]Of course they didn't make it. Had to make room for the 10th place team from the $EC & the 8th place team from the BIG XII...[/Possible sarcasm]

Better luck next year.

Zags have brought in tremendous players without even having a stadium. For Example, Matt Wickswat one of the highest ranked pitchers on the west coast coming out of high school. However he didn't want to be redshirted as a freshmen the coaches redshirted him anyway and he decides to transfer. His first year with the Broncons he goes 9-2 for SCU with 3.54 ERA and named to the Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team. The Zags let a great player slip away.

It's that damn RPI thing again ... (75th)

...Gonzaga’s RPI is considerably lower, but its series wins against San Diego and Pepperdine are far more impressive than anything Memphis has done. Troy, at least, won a series from Coastal Carolina.

Maybe skipper should talk to Few's travel agent = :espn: = :p
