Seconded. You will not be disappointed in DirecTV. Just get the sports package (gives you all regional Fox/FSN networks, plus Comcast Sports Net, YES Network, etc.). Plus many games that are sometimes on obscure channels will show up on DirecTV's "alternate" channels.

I have had DirecTV since 2003 and I think I have missed fewer than 5 Zags games in that entire time.

Will that work if you live outside the PAC Northwest?

Yes. Birddog (in Oklahoma) is the expert on this.

Yes, I switched to DirecTV 3 years ago and it has never been better (especially with ESPNU HD). Also a big plus for the ESPN games that are stacked up together is the ability to watch the games online while the TV games go long. I have ATT for Internet now, and ESPN's online package works with ATT ISPs, but in the past they have not worked with Comcast. I'm not sure if that has changed now.

Just make sure you buy the maintenance on your Dish for the winter months, just like in the commericals..Mayhem can strike and it sucks waiting on the the signal to come back.

Oh, and I'm the Bay Area, CA...so it definitely works for out of towners. I think we only missed a few games a year that KHQ broadcast but not FSN.

It will be 14 years for me with DirecTV in Dec. I rarely miss a Zag game and that was when they simply were not broadcast on Sat. That hasn't happened in a couple of years BTW. Even when there is a conflict and the Zag games are delayed, it is usually available live on an alternate channel on the Fox system. There is always somebody on the board that gives the heads up as to which channel.

If you are going to become a DirecTV subscriber, PM me or some other subscriber for their acct# and we both get a credit for $100

Since I've never sunscribed to Dish I can't say with certainty, but I've been led to believe that when you want to drop a service or pkg, they charge for it (severance charge). With DirecTV, the Sports Pkg is about $12 a month but you get more sports stuff. Additionally ,I only subscribe during BB season and there is no charge when I drop it. I think they also pro rate it if you drop in the middle of your billing cycle.
Lastly, as a DirecTV subscriber, you'll be rubbing elbows with some of this board's more select characters. Any Shmo can be a Dish subscriber.

Dish is similar. I have been quite pleased with Dish until recently when the started their tiff with Fox. Several regional sports channels were taken off the air, but not the ones that I watch such as FSNW. However, I just noticed this weekend that when I went to watch the Huskies/ASU game this weekend it was blacked out. Several other football games on regional channels were also blacked out and I could only get Big 10 network games. If this is not fixed very soon, I will be looking for a new provider.

Kinda sucks because it looks like Fox is trying to force Dish out which ultimately reduced competition and increases my price.

PtD, you are good now as are other Dish Network customers. Just got this from Dish:

DISH Network is pleased to announce that we have reached an agreement with FOX and that your FX channel has been restored. You may have also had a FOX Regional Sports Network channel removed and this programming has been restored as well. The new agreement also ensures the continued carriage of all your FOX local channels.

i have a directv question.... now that i am in SAlt Lake my rental has Directv, and I believe the package is choice. My landlord is ok with me adding a sports package and just paying the difference. what do i say i want to add? all i see on the directv site is ESPN FULL COURT, which is $104.00. As far as Fox channels, I only see FSN Rocky Mtn...help! TIA!

Lynette, there ought to be a way of adding the sports tier without paying for the Full Court deal; suggest you call DIRECTV customer service to see what the options are.

I have Choice Extra + HBO + the Sports Tier + HD Access for $100.00 / Mo.

FWIW, the regional sports package on Dish is $7.00 a month. Now that the Fox/Dish tiff is over, I can also get West Coast college football games as well as the Zags on FSNW.

Pretty sure, yes. I get it every year starting in Nov (and then cancel it in March); I love getting all the FSN channels, but FSN NW is my local FSN so I'm not 100% sure it's in the package. One other perk - with all those FSN stations, you can watch just about any WCC game (at least that's been the case the last 2 years). Some of the WCC squads also have some non-conference games on those channels IIRC. I like to keep up with the rest of the league, so it's great IMO.

The sports package includes FSNW. I haven't missed a game in two years that was on the FSN family of networks ( though I do recall a stink re: a zags game getting tape delayed in order to show the Fuskies. . .somthing like that )

I just read where DISH and FOX kissed and made up...

I had both the last three years and with the FSN package I watched all the games on both...but as RZ stated, at least one was tape-delayed because of another team in the Seattle area. I have Direct TV but will be dropping the package and going Uverse(?) (I'll learn to spell it when we buy it) as it has better options and provides a cell phone and internet package at reasonable price price.

Oh, Direct TV and Versus also kissed and made up too!

Apples and oranges. The "Sports Pkgs" of the two providers consist of different channels. The same for all their respective bundles. In the end, you'll pay about the same for equal content except for the most basic of bundles where Dish might win out but even then not by much. For my needs, DirecTV is the better choice, that's why I've been with them for 14 years. The $100 off deal is still going too, one poster (Zagtana) already cashed in on this deal.
