That's terrible news. That's got to be tough for family/friends, obvsiouly, and for the program as well. What a tragedy.

Accident happened when he swerved to avoid a fallen tree (storms around Atlanta) and his car flipped then hit another tree. Was even wearing a seat belt and was just five minutes from home. An article which gives a little more commentary about what a fan favorite and team favorite he was.

Can someone provide a link to one of the Winthrop Boards so we can post there? Thanks.

This is the Winthrop Board that seemed to be to most highly used and the one I used when the Eagles were in Spokane and beat Notre Dame. Lot of good posters here:

What a tragic turn. It becomes much more personal after the events of this last tournament and good will that generated between our schools. My prayers go out to their community.

Thanks for your support guys. De'Andre was a very special young man. A great person and student who just happened to be a tenacious basketball player. He will be missed sorely by the Winthrop Community for years to come.

A member of the Winthropfans.com board put together this great video tribute/highlight clip of De'Andre...in 4 minutes, it pretty much captures all of the types of plays that Dre would make on the court and the fun-loving/energetic style of play and attitude he had...
