Don't know if this is new or just something I missed while on vacation, but the S-R has a story up saying that Keita arrives Thursday: http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/aug/24/zags-officially-add-french-guard-to-mix/

Yippie! Good find, VinnyZag!
Keita committed to Gonzaga months ago, but it took some time to complete academic and eligibility requirements. He was cleared by the NCAA’s eligibility center last week and he’s expected to arrive in Spokane on Thursday
The Bulldogs also have a commitment from Mathis Monninghoff, who is believed to be near the completion of the NCAA eligibility center process. The 6-foot-7 German is an athletic wing with perimeter shooting ability, somewhat in the mold of ex-Bulldog Micah Downs. Monninghoff has extensive international experience and served as captain of Germany’s U-18 national team this summer.

This thread needs a pic to welcome Mathis. It will be interesting to see what nicknames we'll work out to differentiate the two Mathis.

From Jim Meehan's blog (http://www.spokesman.com/blogs/sportslink/2010/aug/24/zags-beef-roster/) ... Don't know why this wasn't in the story published in the SR:
Keita arrives in Spokane on Thursday. Monninghoff is expected in Spokane as early as today. Both were recruited by assistant coach Tommy Lloyd, who has been the primary recruiter of a number of GU’s international players through the years.Wow!

Welcome to Mr. Monninghoff!

Very excited to see what they can do. I think it would be a tall order for either to make the impact E Harris has made, but if any of our true freshman can contribute as much as Kelly or Manny did last year, I think it would be great. When you add in Sam, David Stockton, and Keegan, you have quite a freshman class.

One of the things we often overlook is that your bench is framing defenses/offenses, and are the guys who are hopefully pushing your starters to get better in practice. The better the bench, the greater potential for your team. I think we have some real talent on the bench, now it is just getting them up to speed with the program.

Hope the M & M boys don't mind GU's rather bland Uni's!

A nine minute clip of Kieta casts a far more favorable light on him. What I saw was a patient PG with some excellent passing skills. Some of his precisely threaded feeds may have caught his teammates by surprise because they blew a few chippies. He's also a decent midrange shooter.
On d, he tends to flail his arms a lot without getting the best stance. That part is highly teachable.

I can see it now. Pamela Anderson courtside, being "sacked" by Borat during a timeout.

David Stockton?!?!?!

I wondered as well but then maybe we don't know what's really going on behind the scenes...he comes for excellent "stock" so maybe it was one of those Freudian slips.

I think I've found the Kennel Club Chant for "The Hoff" when he takes the court!

Hope our Hoff flies! .... Or is that too much hype?
