Interesting choice, and well deserving. Wainwright is a fantastic coach that is enormously respected by his peers. One hopes he takes a liking to Matt Bouldin....

This site should have the list of invitees fairly soon......

Caught him on a brackets show during the Tourney & he was hilarious.

J.W. has got a magic touch. Got the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington into their first-ever post-seasons (NITs and NCAAs over a run of five seasons from '98 to '03) and had the smarts to pluck Brett Blizzard of Tallahassee right out from under the nose of Steve Robinson, who had asked the "recruit" to walk-on at FSU. Legend is that missing the gem right under his nose is what cost Robinson his job, even as Blizzard's playing years put UNC-W on the map.

Went on to U of Richmond and same story, into the NCAAs -- although I think some players he'd recruited to UNC-W followed him to Richmond.

Bouldin -- if he's invited onto the team -- will enjoy playing under this guy. One of his former players (now a D-1 asst coach) told me that his 4 years with Wainwright were the absolute best in both improving his own game and overall knowledge of the game. JW is a stickler on good D.
