    Mid Major Success

Excellent article, particularly the three keys for a non-BCS school to make it to the Final Four...(1) experience; (2) an elite player; and (3) matchups in the tourney. I think the last one--matchups--may be the most important of the three.

You have to love the Gonzaga fan. Not satisfied to be affronted merely by common hosings at the hands of ragtag referees, he plows all avenues of discontent. - John Blanchette

good read, thanks Angelo, and agree with you: matchups. that Wyoming game, where it was played, etc. painful example. there are others specific to Zag history (hello Davidson!), and it happens every year throughout the seeding process to all kinds of teams, both in the pro and con. matchup manipulation is big for the NCAA tournament committee seems to me

    liked this quote:

Maybe it's a trend. Maybe it isn't. But the examples of Butler and George Mason suggest something has changed to give teams from outside the major conferences reason to believe they can aim higher than simply making the NCAA tournament. They also can think about trying to win it. And that represents a major change from the not-too-distant past.

made me think of you alaskazagnut
