      Fun list. Good work, AR.

Had no idea Bakari Hendrix hailed from the JUCO ranks. One of the most improved players during his time as a Zag.

I recall Hendrix averaging something like 1ppg in one of his first seasons and barely seeing the court, and it literally seemed like the next year he was averaging around 20ppg and named WCC POY.

Talk about player making the most of his offseason...

I see a similar development occurring for Big Rob.

PS--> Also, was not aware Stew Morrill(Utah St Head Coach) was a Zag and Conference POY for us.

Definitely a thread worth bookmarking in my Zag history folder.

If I recall correctly, Hendrix played one year of JC ball at Solano JC, then came to GU. He injured his ankle early in his first season at GU and played in just a handful of games..

Pretty sure Bakari BROKE the ankle early on his Soph yr. (1st at GU). He sure was a stud the next 2 yrs, though.
              But we don't play nobody.

Speaking of impactful JC players, in the 1992-93 season, Felix McGowan was the starting shooting guard for Gonzaga on a team that went 10-4 in conference. He went down late in the season with a broken thumb, depriving Gonzaga of one of its leading scorers on a quality team. That team lost by 2 points in the WCC semi's.

If McGowan doesn't get injured, does Gonzaga make its first post season appearance one year earlier than it did or even its first NCAA appearance 2 years earlier?

Lorenzo Rollins is playing for the Tacoma Tide in the International Basketball League. The Tide is playing tonight at Olympia Reign, at 7 p.m. at South Puget Sound Community College.

Recent pic of Lorenzo from a report on a game against the Bellingham Slam:

Tacoma Tide's schedule here. (The Tide's website is pretty near useless, IMO, so peruse it only if you have a high tolerance for frustration.)
