Looks like another Juco guard has joined in the parade.

It was the 70th game for Navarro guard Matt Pressey who scored 16 points. He was named the all-region and all-tournament MVP.

The BIG question is: Can he shoot?

19.5 ppg in the tourney (http://www.njcaabbtrny.org/home/leaders.htm), for 8th leading scorer, behind Marquise Carter's 22.8 (2nd)

Last game: 2/7 FG (5/12 3 pt)
Friday: 4/11 (0/3 3 pt)
Wed: 5/12 (2/4)
Tues: 8/13 (2/5)

Clearly he has a green light, and tough to extrapolate from one tourney, but not sure these are fantastic numbers against juco opponents (although Tuesday was good, possibly against a lower seeded team?). I suppose it's all a crapshoot, and actually seeing a player is much more important than trying to judge on numbers alone.

Was watching the Navarro-Middle Georgia game and the announcer said he has averaged 36.5% from three all year. At about the 11:20 mark of the 1st-half he shows a little Pargo-like drive and finish.

We'll see what happens.

NJCAA Division I Championship Top Performers

The NJCAA Division I National Championships featured a number of quality talents, both signed and unsigned players, heres a look at the top prospects we observed in Hutchinson

The NJCAA Division I Championships featured some quality talent, most of which are still available at this time. We are going to look at the top talent we observed and the game they showed to us on the court at the Sports Arena. So with that in mind here's a look at the top prospects at the NJCAA D-I National Championships this past week in Hutchinson -

NJCAA D-I Top Prospects (Listed By Height)

Matt Pressey 6-3 SG All-Tournament Navarro CC, TX - He is a solid wing who can knocked down three or score off the dribble. He averaged 19.5 points in games we watched. He is Paul Pressey's (former NBA player/current NBA assistant) son and currently is getting looks from Creighton, TCU, Arkansas, Georgia State, and Sam Houston State, but look for that list to grow.

Tomatoes are flying towards the stage. :p

(I wonder if he'll hold a presser)

He's listed as an sg; with SG, Manny, Bol and GG, is a 2 guard really a need?

He can play point.

On the last show on KGA, Few said they were looking for help on the perimeter. No mention of point guard skills specifically.

Well, isn't this interesting: Gonzaga was listed in Matt's Rivals profile (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Matt-Pressey-103763) early this morning but isn't there now!

Mistake by Rivals corrected? Hmm. Coincidence him being a Texas JUCO?

Shoot. This guy was interesting. Note that he plays in the same conference as Kahlil McDonald and was selected the region's MVP (http://tpstage.sx.atl.publicus.com/article/20100312/SPORTS06/3120305/-1/SPORTS0551), over McDonald, who a lot of people here loved.

Navarro sophomore guard Matt Pressey was voted the Most Valuable Player of Region XIV. The son of former NBA player Paul Pressey, Matt ranked third in the league with 17.5 points per game. I never heard how the recruiting for Pressey ended after we settled on Marquise, and so the following article provided some interesting closure of that topic.

It turns out Matt and his brother Phil both signed with Missouri. From the article: "Matt is a 6-2 shooting guard who played two seasons at Navarro College in Texas, where he averaged 17.5 points per game as a sophomore as the team went 30-7. He committed to Mizzou in the spring over Texas A&M, Iowa State and Gonzaga."
