Okay! So much has been said. I am frankly surprised that so many people think FSU will beat the Zags! Oh well.:)

Gonzaga U 71
Florida St U 61

Good opening game for the Zags. Our three headed monster is back allive. Bouldin, Gray and Harris all in double figures. Sacre gets 10. That's all I ever expected from him this year. Kong has a nice game off the bench. Will has an impact too. His 7'5" fram causes a lot of damage. There's a lot of negativity in Zagnation. But the Zags rise above it, and give their fans something to cheer about. The fans remember the Zags who played healthy. The 10 day rest really seemed to help the Zags. I think a lot of people forgot how banged up we were, and Bouldin playing with the flu. Matt is stellar in this game and shows why he's a Wooden finalist. Gray and Harris are outstanding as well. I think a lot of people forgot how good Harris is. He shows Florida State why he came to Gonzaga, to beat teams like FSU.

Many different elements will combine to give us the win, but coaching will be the biggie. With this many days to prepare, Few and Co. will show why they are among the elite staffs in CBB, while the Seminole staff is, ahh, not.

In this game, two points equal one. Think of games verse Washington State under Bennett. Points are at a premium here.

In other words, the team that is down by 5 is equivalent to being down by 10 under "normal" circumstances.

So when I say Zags by five, it almost means double digits (Kinda, sorta).

Understand?

I would have to say:

GU 66

FSU 60

Its funny because if you look at the FSU board.....I would say 65% say Gonzaga is going to win.

GO ZAGS!!!

Pick 'em and I mean that. Zags and Noles fans are holding their breath on this one. Key player is Meech. He simply has to contribute enough to get us over 70 pts. You can't play 5 on 4 in The Dance. He can do it.

Predicted scores; "played as we played against Wisconsin in Maui". G.U wins by 6-10 pts.
"played like we did against Duke in the Garden", we lose by 12-15 pts. It all depends on how bad the kids want it?

This team is a enigma wrapped in a riddle ....I think I heard Santangelo say that Meech was the key and that he just had to be Meech...nothing more... I have a hunch this will be just his kind of game....Zags 74.....FSU 63....

I think this game will be very close. Bouldin will have a good game for you'll, but I think Singleton will totally neutralize Harris. Our PG Kitchen steps up and does some more scoring this game like he is capable of. The Noles typically play well coming off a loss and when doubted. Most everyone is picking Gonzaga to win this one, but I like the fact that the Vegas folks are taking us.

It all depends on Matty B. In the ACC semifinals, VA Tech's and the ACC's leading scorer, Malcolm Delaney (20.4 ppg), though he had plenty of open opportunities, was 3 for 15 against an inferior Miami team, and personally forfeited the Hokies chance for a berth in the NC2A tourney w/the resulting L. In the NIT tonite, same dude hits for 9-15 and 25 as VaTech swamps a not-that-bad Quinnipiac group.

From what I hear on the "board" currently, Matty is: 1) sick 2) injured) 3)not getting any help from his teammates 4) tired from playing too many minutes 5) shot (as in my mother's last words on her deathbed: "I'm shot...")

Is a week + enough time to recover from being sick, injured, ignored, exhausted, and "shot"? Tune in Friday. Bouldin scores 18+ methinks Zags move on. He does and the Zags garner best in freakshow award w/a 51 to 49 W in this year's carnival.

Meech plays 30+ minutes and we attempt to push the tempo the entire game, but fail. We make way too many TO's in our halfcourt sets, miss too many open 3's, and the teams looks for Bouldin to answer, but he's swallowed up by Florida State's length, strength, and athleticism along the perimeter. We fail to post-up Matt, Gray looks disinterested, and Elias doesn't know what to do vs 6'10" athletic post players. Sacre is the only bright spot on defense and offense. The posts following the game will be about Sacre and his ability in leading next year's squad. We question wheter Harris returns, we thank Bouldin for his class, and hope for a better showing next season. Overall, FSU is used to this counter-attack style of offense and easily answers our gameplan to 'speed it up'. The board wishes we would have slowed it down and utilized our passing ability and back-door cuts to beat FSU. Looks like a team we should have beaten, but sadly do not answer the call...13 pts loss.

We play like we did in Maui. This team responds well to "big" teams (games)-especially when they are healthy. I thing the 9+ days off lets the major wounds heal and we come out like we did against Cincinatti!

ugly early. florida state imposes slow tempo and takes a 3 point lead to the break, but gonzaga fans feel VERY fortunate to be only down 3.

at the ten minute mark of the second half, the game loosens up a little, and the zags end the game on something like a 17-5 run and win by 8.

i see us coming out fired up, off to an early lead of 10-12 for most of the first half. then, like we always do, they'll make it interesting - giving up most or all of the lead, but coming through in the clutch to take us to round two:

I see us come out and surprise FSU a bit with our own length, athleticism and execution. They recover, but not before we get a bit of a lead. Never much more than 10 pts, but that's all we'll need.

My view, too. Zags duke it out defensively with 'Noles in first half, no offensive flow. Zags finally get a few more stops and get a little separation and FSU has to try playing catch-up.

I'm looking for Meech to get 8-10 points in this one, just to keep them honest.

After watching most of the first day of games, I feel pretty good. The Mid-Majors have done great, and Gonzaga, like Butler, is at the top of the list. Zags will dominate like Butler did today in my guessstimation. Go Zags!!!

Slow start. Lower scoring game than we are used to. Meech or GJ may be the key by pushing it and drawing fouls. SG comes up big again.

Robert brings it out for all to see (that is his attitude!) and keeps Alabi busy. Matt and Stephen show their big game experience by provide clutch shots and stops. Elias, Kelly and Bol all wear down Singleton and Meech plays under control for most of the game. Still it is a nailbiter until the last 10 seconds with a big stop by Stephen.

Hey. We've been doing this all year. We better be getting good at it!!! :D
I had Florda St right on, but missed the Zags by 3. Not bad though. At least we won. :D Go Zags!!!
