One of those things I HAVE to know

Did anyone on this board sit in section 118 at the WCC championship and have to endure the sonic barrage of one guy screaming BIG D!!! until he was hoarse and the guy that sounded like Redd Foxx yelling: "I wanna dunk right nah!! I wanna dunk right nah!!!"

If either of you is on this board, please out yourself.

You might have been close enough to hear Big D!!!

        Red Foxx probably not.

Mr. Foxx, as I now think of him as, also accentuated free throws with a "bayyyam".

HE was actually amusing... Big D... just plain annoying.

I was in 109 and whoever made the comments

            "Oh my god ,they're huge!"

regarding some of the cheerleading squads of Portland/LMU and SMC had the perfect combo of timing and gym silence. Kudos. Please identify yourself as well!

Wow, I thought it... didn't enunciate it.

Lets just say, some of the cheerleaders weren't the same size as what you might have had at your HS.

Yes...shall we say these schools provide equal opportunity tryouts for the squads (as well as extra dining points for the essential nutrition)

USF and SCU are fantastic however. I was surprised, because last year SMC looked like they bolstered their squad from Saphires...nice boots.

Same size as your standard high school football team?

St Marys brought about 90 of them --and switched them out at half time.

Many seemed to have really nice personalities-- a couple of St Marys fans were sitting near me and even they were making light of the size of the squad-- something about when they changed out at half time so that they could head to the buffet.

They seemed full of spirit-- which is what you want for a cheer squad.

Having watched all the games and seeing some of the cheer squads multiple times, here was my final rankings:

                        8. SMC: Apparently Samhan's sisters were given cheer scholarships. A couple were very cute and as a team they used their muscle to sustain pyramids for long periods of time; which saved them from total failure.

                        7. USD: If those are California girls I don't wish "they all could be California"
Solid dance routine and the big girls moved well. If USD had a football team I know where they can find a couple of nose tackles.

                        6. Portland: Forgetable. Not great. Not bad.

                        5. Gonzaga: When the best thing about your cheer squad is the all-male dance routine, you know you have problems. Although the uniforms showed bellies, they seemed a bit conservative and dated.

                        4. LMU: The worst of the best. Solid team with good choreography, looks, and moves. Uniforms drag down their overall score and lack of an all-star performer drops them below USF.

                        3. USF: They may not have had the best routines and didn't do the moves at the same time, but those uniforms... Plus they had all star talent and the #1 ranked individual cheerer.

                        2. Pepperdine: They had a wide variety of different looks, performed solid cheers, and were very selective in who had the cheerleader "looks" for their team.

                        And the winner is:
                        1. Santa Clara. Top notch group. They were great. The only deduction was when they began a tacky cheer while an opponent was injured and crying on the floor.

These are copied from my texts to my buddy during the tournament. You have to do something to keep yourself busy when you don't like to gamble and your stuck at a casino watching basketball for four days.

let's just say there were a few individuals out there that definitely were not going to be at the apex of any pyramid formation....
