Few, in his 11th year, needs one victory to move past Hank Anderson for most wins at Gonzaga. Both have 290 wins. Few's .801 winning percentage is the highest of any active coach with at least five seasons.
Gonzaga is 10-6 against the ACC all-time, but lost to North Carolina in a Sweet 16 game last year and to Wake Forest and Duke this year. ... Gonzaga is 14-12 in NCAA tournament games, and has advanced past the first round eight of the 12 times it has appeared.

Love this analogy!

"They have been kind of giant killers," he said. "They have traveled all over the country playing anyone who would like to play. They've tried to schedule all the tough games.

"I told my players they're kind of like gunslingers. You watch those old cowboy movies. Guys just show up in town and walk out in the middle of the street and they take on whoever comes out there. And that's kind of the way they've been."

So much so they are now the giants themselves. They have been to the Sweet 16 five times in the past 11 seasons.

Gunslingers from the Wild West.

From Florida Today article:

"They've earned a tremendous reputation," Hamilton said. "They started out at a mid-major type level, but they've blossomed into a major basketball program."

". . . They've earned the right to be considered one of the top programs in the country."

Liked this quote.

fanhouse.com article has a bit of an error in it:

Meanwhile, all Florida State has to do is defeat Gonzaga, which was ranked in the top 10 earlier this season, is testy about not having swept its conference's regular-season and tournament titles, has been to the Sweet 16 five times since 1999, and has grown to such prominence that coach Mark Few earlier this season insisted that the Bulldogs stop being called "mid-major.'' Its path to this position? Knocking off schools from prestigious conferences.
