Hope it's the good karma Gus Johnson (who's doing the FSU game) -- the runner, Morrison's 3 against OK State in the Battle in Seattle, etc vs the not so good karma Gus Johnson (we all remember that game).

Gus seems to get a few "upsets" -- I look at this as a good sign.

Is anyone else excited he will be doing the Buffalo games? I can't wait to hear his call when we topple Syracuse on a Steven Gray "runner".................

Maybe Elmore won't completely root against us this time like he did against UCLA.

I feel like it is almost written into Gus Johnson's contract that every game goes down to the wire.

Just was reminded that this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qM40lViQrw4)was during Gus's 1st year (1st game?) doing tourney games. What a way to start!

It felt like both announcers were really pulling for the 'Noles. Maybe they just wanted to keep the game interesting but it went over the line in my eyes.

the Zags led that game beginning to end.

These two only raised their voices, or seemed interested, when it looked like FSU might catch up. Then the "shades of UCLA" tag before a commercial timout. what crap.

Clearly a well-aimed, painful, stab. I was surprised, & grateful, they didn't have that infamous film ready just to drive the knife in a little further.

it was gratuitous....there is no comparison betwn this FSU team and the UCLA team w 3 or 4 pros.....and the GU team w Ammo...and the S16.... a cheap shot

Cannot stand him at all.

Gus is a forking tool. The UCLA reference was uncalled for and he knows it. He has a seriously short repertoir.

don't worry if we get a double digit lead against 'Cuse and let it dwindle to a one or two point lead CBS will have it cued and ready accompanied with numerous references to the Zags letting a big lead almost slip away on Thursday ...

He cannot know how much our sphincters tighten when that UCLA game is mentioned. I got a bit nauseos....good thing I've got drugs to treat it! lol....he and Elmore are very limited in their insights. SOmetimes they just say stuff because they have a microphone in their mugs...and are paid to say something...anything...not too fun and not too entertaining...either of em! Bleahhhhhhhh!

The thing about Gus is that his voice does this thing that makes you feel so much more tense. When it's your team that's in the lead, it makes it feel closer than it is. When you're behind, you love it.

The UCLA reference, though, was totally amateur. There were no "shades of UCLA" in this one. First round. Not a huge lead in the second half. So, so different.

Serious people:confused:

you are thinking he is showing favortism cause he raised his voice when the game was starting to get interesting?

I am as big of a Zag fan as the next guy...but I am not going to call out a guy because he is not gushing over our guys, especially when is paid to be neutral and do his best to make the game exciting for the TV viewing audience

For those of you getting the Syracuse-Vermont game, how often are they bringing up Vermont's win over the Orange a few years ago? (Sorrentine, etc)

They have airtime to fill. They like to find as much drama as possible.

Absolutely serious, The UCLA reference was made with some glee. You could tell he wanted to pop that one. You wouldn't hear that kinda crap from Lundquist and Rafferty. They would have kept their comments on the "play" of the game. ONIONS!

Although the UCLA reference was a Maalox moment, I tend to agree with Zagsker on this one. They referenced the Runner so why would they not mention "the Collapse" when the game was down to 4 points? They should have shown Meech's game winner; didn't Gus call that game too? Maybe they did show it as I missed a few minutes firing up the laptop when they suddenly switched to GA Tech/OK St in the first half.

Go Zags!

there. Please. I did not imply favortism and am pretty much anti-gushing, at least until a game is over.

My thoughts, after listening to them the whole game is they were lousy announcers. way before the cheap UCLA shot. Maybe this was not a good match for them, I don't know.

You like them. that's ok w/me. I don't.

Whether they were playing favorites or not, I don't know either, and did not say.

They were boring. they did very few replays and hardly any analysis of the game as it was playing out, from my vantage. They took few risks, and rarely bothered to mention whether a call was good or bad, or argue or discuss the more controversial calls. and worst of all didn't replay them or ask to see them again. they are the B team. Maybe the C team.

I don't remember them questioning much of the stuff I saw and assume they saw, too. Like did alabi walk when Will was called for fouling him after he took three steps and made a lay in. No replay, no question. No shot of Few protesting the call. We all saw it, so just fill in the details, don't try to be too clever.

I do remember one of them saying Harris couldn't get away with "european ball" in the U.S> (or something like that) when he, or perhaps it was Bol, was called for traveling. So what the hell is that ? explain, please. show it. enlighten. "something."

I can guess, but I didn't use the term. One of them did.

Same with the UCLA shot. Whose interest do you think he was trying to pique ? Do you think the game was in danger of losing market share ? Needed a boost ? People were losing interest ?

I think it was just a stupid, cheap shot. Unwarrantd. I hope he regrets it and eats his words, or is reminded he should eat them, whenever he's tempted to say something that stupid again.
