    Manny's Foot Surgery

    GU press release:

SPOKANE, Wash. (March 11, 2010 – http://www.gozags.com) – Gonzaga University men’s basketball freshman forward Mangisto Arop underwent successful surgery Wednesday in Spokane to repair his broken left foot, according to Bulldog men’s basketball trainer Jennifer Nyland.

Arop suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in last Sunday’s West Coast Conference Tournament semifinal victory over Loyola Marymount University. The surgery pinned the bone to expedite the healing process. He will be sidelined approximately eight weeks before he can begin a rehabilitation program.

He had come off the bench in all 31 of the Bulldogs games to date prior to the injury, averaging 3.5 ppg, 3.8 rpg and 0.7 assists/game. He was averaging 11.9 minutes/game.

The Bulldogs will find out their NCAA Tournament destination and first round opponent Sunday.

        I'm guessing stress fracture.

My guess would be an avulsion fracture, but I'll let the MD's on the board chime in.

No way to know without seeing the films (or someone specifically reporting it whose seen them). Assuming he was 100% prior to the injury, it's unlikely to be stress fracture related, but rather an acute fracture related to landing on it (or getting stepped on) during the game.

I figured it was a simple fracture if his foot got stepped on from the top. Usually stress fractures occur over time unless some cad like me decides to run a marathon in one day.

Didn't Manny have some foot issues last summer? The program's due for a stress fracture as well LOL.

I took this picture of Manny's foot, right before they took him in for surgery. It's broken.

That is a joke post right woohoo? That is Mannys foot? That looks like a caucasian foot. Am I wrong here? I think that is woohoo's foot when he kicked the wall after the St Marys loss.
