View Full Version : I did it......and I am ashamed....

Ok, as I posted earlier in the week, I stayed at the Palms, and low and behold, so did the Gaels.

After the debacle last night, the wifey and I hit up the tables and slots at our hotel hoping to get beat again in another form. As we were losing $20 on the Double Diamond Deluxe machine, there was this thunderous applause coming from the casino. The Mrs. thought someone hit the mega bucks progressive winnings. With my super sophisticated Zagdar going off, I knew exactly what it was.

I didn't need to peer around our machine very far until I saw about 20 taller guys in shorts and t-shirts. Coming our way, was the Gael entourage. There weren't any fellow Zag fans around that I could gain courage and support from. Gael fans were popping out of every nook and cranny.

So...I did it...and I am ashamed. As Samhan and his minions were walking with the WCC trophy like he was Xerxes from the movie 300, I said to him "Hey, nice T Samhan" And I threw up the two handed "t sign" for a technical foul. They all stopped and looked at me while I was on my lonely Zag island. Samhan lifted up his shirt and started pointing at it and mumbling something. What on Earth is he referring too...

Anyways, Ben Allen yelled at me "who has the trophy?" And I said "yeah, well it's about time you guys finally won something meaningful"

It got heated, and Samhan started yelling a bunch of stuff that I couldn't understand, and I froze. I couldn't think of anything creative, so I just busted out the ole hands shaped in the form of a W, a la Big Will Foster and I yelled "Big Will owns you....go YouTube it"

The wife grabbed me, chewed me out, called me an idiot, and everyone moved on...

I am ashamed and should have let them enjoy their win...

Nothing made me more mad than seeing him run down the court after he drew that bullcrap offensive foul. I really wanted to see Sacre beat the crap out of him, only there would have been obvious gratifications, I mean ramifications. Omar is just a classless person and I wish him nothing but the worst. Way to stand up and put those premadonna Gaels in their proper place.

thank you guys...you make me feel better...

after watching his mockery on the court, I let the emotions get the better of me. I couldn't resist and had to give him and his teammates a piece of my mind.

Part of me wantd to be the "bigger" person, the other part of me created a grin on my face and a slight piece of satisfaction :)

You probably won't come across any SMC player in the future, so it doesn't matter with them, but will your wife be able to forgive you anytime soon?

Should have asked Ben how his back was feeling after carrying Omar for 40 minutes.

:D

Pretty sure Omar would have lost it then.

Oh & please tell me Omar used the word "beast" at some point.

Incredible.

You should have asked Ben Allen who the hell he was since he has been a nobody basically all year.

I would love for Rob and Samhan to run into eachother in an alley somewhere after their careers end (obviously Rob will be more valuable). Samhan knows deep down that he would be calling Rob "daddy" if that trash-talk had happened anywhere outside of a college basketball game.

you shouldnt be ashamed, you should be incredibly proud. it takes a man to take that stand.

and the line about foster and youtube is just gold. that you came up with that on the spot and had the balls to call it out is just fantastic.

Yeah, I understand both the going off on him and the feeling guilty afterwards. Don't feel too bad - we've all done things and been overly emotional that we regret afterwards.

I commend you on your thread title, the last line of your post and the actions of your wife.

I just hope that the 15+ college kids who were enjoying one of the best night's of their lives have no recollection of this event.

Very funny post. I wish we all could've been there to witness yet another ridiculous 'Hamsamich' memory.

Your wife reacted just the same as mine would've. I'll bet she's laughing about it by now.

You've done us all proud.

Good job.......:)

Speak for yourself. :lmao:

I, nor my wife, will ever forget the first hoops game we attended as a couple. UTEP vs. NMSU, Pan Am Center, Las Cruces, NM, early 80s.

Second half, tight game, watching from the nosebleed section in one of the corner sections with the rest of the UTEP fans. Something just didn't look right, so I counted the Aggies on the court: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...SIX!!!!!!

The Zag in me from the days of the "Snake Pit" kicked in like the NOS in the Fast & the Furious. I jump out of my seat, screaming "they've got 6 on the court". Mortified, my then GF is pulling on my right arm in a vain attempt to get me to sit down.

Within a period of less than 10 seconds, other fans in our section start going bonkers, along with the UTEP bench. The NMSU coach actually went on to the court to drag the nearest player off the court. Yet the refs never called a technical.

When my GF asked, "what's WRONG with you?", I replied "you should be proud of me! I was the first to catch it." My 80's love affair with UTEP hoops began that day, as they won with a depleted squad by playing tough, gritty basketball...just like the '99 Zags.

To this day, my wife doesn't understand my actions, nor do I understand her reaction. And I certainly have not, nor will ever, apologize.

There's plenty of other occasions where apologies were delivered, though. :lmao:

Actually, you should be ashamed.

This is a perfect example of how spoiled GU fans have become with their expectation of winning. There's another good team out on the court too. St. Marys was ready for GU and it showed. They out played and out hustled GU.

How many times has GU won compared to St. Marys? This was their moment and you should let them enjoy it. You're in another town and how you act reflects on all GU fans. Do all those people who witnessed what you did come away with a good impression of Gonzaga and it's fans?

Winning with dignity is easy. Losing with class is hard and you failed miserably.

While this is certainly true, losing without class--going down in flames while being dragged off by your significant other--is much more entertaining to read about.

Did AzZag ruin the moment for SMC? Hardly. He will become one of the bright spots in their memories of the championship. "This crazy GU fan started talking smack in the casino..."

But most importantly, amid all the chaos of post-SMC finger-pointing and complaining on this board, this is the single post that made me laugh out loud. For that I am thankful.

Oh please, robzagnut. He doesn't need a lecture. Talk about a spoilsport!

After watching that game on tv and seeing the unsportsmanlike conduct of Samhan, I am not surprised at all that there was going to be some emotions..... It was a funny story, okay? Let it go..

Pretty sure this doesn't crack the top 100 list of things done by a Zag(s) that wasn't "Zag Material" (whatever that is anyway).

Sure he shouldn't have done it, but it's nothing in the big picture. Although it sure beats reading all the b!tching & moaning about the loss...

Agreed. They'll go home and tell their friends, and everyone will laugh. They didn't take it seriously, and neither should we. It's all in good fun.

Me too. People walking by my office just told me they were concerned that I was having altogether too much fun at work. This thread brightened my morning. "...YouTube it!" That's classic!

Booooooo!!! I all for being classy, but you have to let people make their own decisions. Moreover, passing judgment just aint cool.

"Win with class. Lose with class."

My sentiments exactly. You're a grown &*# man talking trash with a college kid who just played his last WCC game of his career. So you don't like Samhan, I get it, he gets it, but at least have the decency to let these college kids have their moment. I've been to Vegas twice now for the WCC tournament, and while I met many nice and courteous Zags fans, I also met a lot of really annoying, really rude Zags fans, who were talking trash just because they saw a different logo on my sweatshirt. This story and the support it gets on this board is exactly what's wrong with the Zags fan base. You guys need a dose of reality, and probably a few losing seasons for perspective again. But I'll still be cheering a fellow WCC compatriot in the tourney like I always do. Go Zags, and Go Gaels!

Wow - I can't believe all the people giving AzZag grief over this. Really? If Samhan can pitch it he surely better be able to take it. I think what AzZag did was awesome. Who cares if the SMC guys get riled up.

We worry far too much about offending other people and pander to the constant need for everyone to "feel good". Disgusting - you go AzZag! I loved it. Shoot if my wife was there she'd have jumped in with me just because of the pompous (sp?) nature of Samhan and Allen.

Hey, thank you for the support...I really apprecaite it.
I am honored and beyond thankful to be a Zags fan. There aren't many things in this economy or this world to truly love and enjoy other than my family, my health, and following this awesome team. I don't take being a fan for granted one day.

Personally, I am cool with this thread being locked down by the admins.

I am the first to admit that I should have been the bigger man.
I SERIOUSLY doubt that any of those players gave it a thought not even 10 seconds after it happened. In the spirit of the rivalry I was compelled to share my feelings.

For the record, I was stone cold sober. Losing on that darn Double Diamond machine, but completely sober nonetheless. I appreciate the booze bravery reference Zag 77, however, that wasn't the case. I didn't fear telling Omar how I felt about his antics on the court. However, in hindsight, I should have let him and his teammates enjoy the moment. That's what I regret. Now, if our paths cross again in the world, I'd still tell him that I think he was out of line. Shoving Sacre, pompously running down the court, going on radio shows disrespecting Coach Few and the program...I guess you'd call that winning with class right? However, I know he wouldn't care what I had to say. So...moving on...please...
