    Bracketology update

Zags a 5 seed in spokane playing first round game against Siena. If we get past that than most likely Tennessee. After that, is Kansas.

He has Saint Mary's as an 11 seed playing their first round game against Xavier.

    Last four in:
    Notre Dame
    UCONN
    Rhode Island
    San Diego St.

    First four out:
    Dayton
    Memphis
    UAB
    Mississippi St.

I think Bracketology is fun, but the actual matchups Lunardi projects rarely come true. It's nice to see what band of teams (within 1-2 seeds of our projected oponent) we might play, but beyond that the projected matchups don't really mean anything to me.

I like the teams that are in right now including St. Mary's and San Diego St. Even Notre Dame is projected in for now, so maybe my ND buddy will stop crying about how tough the Big East is. I don't dare tell him that Mark Few said on his show this week that winning the BE conference is tougher than winning the NCAA tourney.

I am not thrilled with the Zags projected matchups in the 2nd and 3rd rounds, but that will change.

Agreed. Lunardi has a knack for nailing seeds pretty close. But he rarely gets the matchups correct. Which is understandable, with so many potential combinations.

Btw Siena/Vols is a nice first weekend. But Kansas in the S16? Ouch.

Every time I see a bracket like this with us as a 5 in Spokane, I can't help but think how pissed I'd be to be a 4 seed and end up playing us in Spokane. I mean, might as well flip-flop the 4 and 5 if they're going to give the 5 the home court advantage.

I'd personally rather be a 6 or 3 seed than 4 or 5. We might get home court advantage, but i would prefer to play a 2 seed than 1 seed. Even if we play in San Jose we will still have a ton of supporting fans. We would most likely have the most fans out of the teams we play...... So, playing a 2 seed is more important to me than playing a 1 seed (If we get there).

Great point. I would think that would be a no-brainer.

Hope he is right on Rhode Island. A good friend used to play football for URI, so kinda pulling for them to make the tourney this year.

If GU doesn't make it to the Sw16, what difference does it make if they were schedule to play a 1, 2, 3, or 4?

IMHO, playing in Spokane would greatly increase GU's chances of winning the 1st 2 rounds.

I can understand people guessing GU gets sent out of town, but I can't figure out how someone could want them to travel in order to get a lower seed. It just doesn't make sense.

                        +1

It's one game at a time and all kinds of nutty things could happen - worrying about whether we *might* take on a 1 or 2 is of concern, but I say we get through game 1 first. I think the best way for that to happen is playing in the Arena. This isn't going to happen often, folks. Let's take advantage.

If we are lucky enough to get a 4/5 seed in Spokane, the one team I would not want to see in the Sweet Sixteen (if we make it there) is Kansas. I'm not saying we can easily handle the other #1 seeds, but I'd like our chances much more of pulling the upset.
