I have always liked conspiracy theories (see my various posts re: BCS dominated Selection Committee conspiring to screw smaller schools in tournament).

One way for GU and the WCC to get one back on the BCS schools would be for GU to gracefully lose in the Championship game and thereby bump the 8th ranked Big 10 (or whatever ) school from the tournament.

Not going to happen as it would probably be both unsportsmanlike and unethical, but I chuckle when I think about it.

Go Bulldogs! Get Bigger!

Eh, just a smidgen, I'd say.

Outlandish prediction? Neither GU nor SMC play for the automatic berth. I'm more sure of SMC not getting there than I am GU.

I feel sorry for the people that decide to watch the Friday games.

LMU will win, the only Q is by how much & the USD-SCU game should really be decided by a coin flip.

I wouldn't count out the fact that the games in which GU plays are basically home games. When we were there last year it felt like the 10,000 person crowd was 9,000 Gonzaga fans and 1,000 "others" (not even necessarily the one team we were playing against). It was raucous and intimidating, and it'll be a hostile environment for those teams who play against us.

I'd add 6-8 points to each of our victories.

Because of the breakdown of the crowd, WCC officials have to be praying non-stop GU makes the final on Monday. An empty gym would not look good Monday - primetime on ESPN.

first round--
Pepperdine (due for a win) squeaks by Loyola, 76-74
Santa Clara, with Trasolini draining threes, takes USD, 64-61
second round--
Too much Lowhorn--USF over Pepperdine, 72-48
Portland 68-52 over santa clara
Semis
GU with too much experience on neutral courts 80, USF 66.
SMC didn't like OT loss to Portland, takes revenge and wins, 71-64
Finals
It's just too hard these days to beat a fellow division one opponent three times in a row. Saint Mary's prevails over the Zags 82-70
