Did I miss a stat for GJ? Help me.

Did GJ make that pass to Will at the box where he got hacked going for a dunk on the right side?

Didn't Will make those 2 free throws?

If so, does not the passer get an assist since both free throws were made?

I don't have a replay and was looking at the box score and noticed GJ w/o an assist.

    Your help is appreciated.

    Thanks.

GJ made the pass, but I don't think they credit an assist unless the field goal is made.

Exactly. In a perfect world, yes it would count, in the real world... nope. His involvement in the play ended at the foul. At that point it was all on fist pumpin', big grinnin' Will. But I get what ZGIF is sayin'.

This thread leads to something that has always bugged me...when a player is fouled and that player goes for a shot and it goes in, the basket is good. But if the defender were to block it, the defender wouldn't get credit for the block.

Assists are only credited when contributing to a field goal.

A player is credited with an assist when the player makes, in
the judgment of the statistician, the principal pass contributing
directly to a field goal (or an awarded score of two or three
          points).

I disagree. A block is only a block if it's a clean block. Otherwise it's just a foul. What you suggest would be like allowing a made basket after a charge.
