Bulldogs.

By ten to fifteen points.

They'll come out firing on all cylinders.

They better.

The Fire Burns Bright

For some strange reason the Zags have not played well at home this year. This trend DOES NOT continue tomorrow night. Zags by 23. Matt, Elias and Steven have great games. Matt is so determined to pull out the win. He plays great. The THREE HEADED MONSTER are very determined to NOT LET this one slip away at home. The bench too comes alive and K2 is really rocking like in days of old.

This is a VERY important game. A loss sends the Zags to Memphis where they will face a physical team and a big crowd. It also drops them down into playing a tougher schedule at the conf tourney.

A win sends them to Memphis on a high note and ends Portlands challenge to them for conference supremecy. It will leave only St Mary's to challenge. I would not want to be St Mary's coming into the kennel with the Zags coming off 2 HUGE victories.

The Zags Need this win tomorrow BIGTIME.....MR. Meech, say hello to Mr. Stohl....GO ZAGS! Keep passing keep moving!

The Pilots are heading into Spokane at the wrong time. Zags will be flaming from the loss to San Francisco, and GU's fire and focus will be back. Zags build up a big lead in the first half, and the bench sees signifcant minutes in the second half.

Zags win 2-0.

With GU up by 20 late in the first half, Reveno goes to the Cameron Dollar strategy of fouling GU's players on every possession, knowing that GU makes only 2 out of every 3 shots from the free throw line.

With 2 minutes left in the second half, and the Zags now up by thirty, there are only two UP players left on the court, Jasonn Hannibal and Taishi Ito. All of UP's other roster players have fouled out. Ito has only 3 fouls. Bouldin posts Ito up and as he goes to the basket there's contact and Ito flops to floor like a salmon dropped by a Pike Street market fish monger.

Thinking he's taken a charge, Ito jumps to his feet and goes into his patented fist-pumping ritual. Dick Cartmell issues him a blocking foul and T's him up for unsportsmanlike contact, giving Ito five fouls and a seat on the bench. Bouldin makes 1-2 free throws (this is Gonzaga, remember). Hannibal goes to inbound the ball, but there's no one to throw the ball to.

Cartmell declares a forfeit for inability to continue the game, and the game goes down in the record books as a 2-0 GU victory.

Despite scoring 33 points and having 18 rebounds before the forfeit is declared, Elias Harris doesn't receive WCC player of the week honors. Reasoning that Harris' stellar performance is wiped out by the forfeit, WCC officials give POY honors to Santa Clara's Ben Dowdell who records the conference's first perfect "2" line in history: 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 turnovers, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

Zags have a Hawaiian flashback. Harris scores 28 and Sacre 12. Big Will goes on a scoring rampage and scores 5 pts including a FT.

Zags by 15 +, Portland has no idea what they are coming into tomorrow night....everyone in the WCC thinks that a loss at USF means the zags are beatable. What it actually did (or should have done) is wake the zags up. I would not want to be UP or SMC coming here now that we have lost. Portlands trip here could not have come at a worse time for them, nothing against portland, they are a good team but I expect nothing less than a 15 point win tomorrow.

A bit overconfident...yes...but I'm a fan, I can be.

The single toughest game mentally all year. Portland is absolutely convinced it is a better team than Gonzaga, and for the last two weeks they make a good case. The game will likely go down to the end. A key will be whether we can take an early lead, 8 points or so. If we are even, or behind, at the 10 minute mark of the first half-- the game will be decided in the last minute. Perhaps we can take away some of that conviction if we are hot and up. But I think we can expect a war that will cause chest pain for us Zags over 35, and "medicinal" drinking that requires a.m. medicine for those under 35.

Gonzaga - 83
Portland - 80

Mods, you guys need to devise a way to keep track of people's predictions, score wise at least. That way my skepticism/realism may be rewarded or debunked.

That's below their average margin of victory. Portland's got some injuries. Ladies by +30.

Close game until late in the 2nd half when GU gets tough on D and pulls away a bit toward the end. Portland stays in it with some timely threes and a good game inside by Smeulders with 17 pts.

Sound familiar? Yes, I am original!

Winning on the road is a very difficult thing to do.....maybe even more difficult for WCC Teams at Gonzaga..... plus with young Raivio out...I expect the Zags to win...but since I do not know which Gonzaga team will show up.. I do not have any idea by how much...just win...please...pretty please.

Folks have long forgotten that Manny Arop came to this team with the reputation as both a scorer and a boardsman. So far, only the latter has been realized as a Zag. But tonight will be Manny's night: 17 points and nine boards. The Zags win, 73-67.
