JUNIOR OLYNYK NOMINATED FOR SPORT B.C. HIGH SCHOOL BOYS ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

RICHMOND, B.C. - Canadian Junior Men's power forward Kelly Olynyk has been nominated for the Sport B.C. High School Boys Athlete of the Year award.

Olynyk, from the interior city of Kamloops, competed for Canada at the FIBA U19 World Championships in New Zealand this past summer, where the Junior Men placed seventh. Olynyk averaged 11.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists a game during the tournament.

Olynyk's father won the B.C. high school award in 1970. Olynyk, who plays for the Gonzaga University Bulldogs in Spokane, Wash., will be pitted against Terry Fox football player Joe Patko and track star Django Lovett.

The 44th annual awards night will take place March 31st at the River Rock Theatre in this Vancouver suburb.

Interesting that K.O's father won this award 30 years ago.

I think by the time Kelly’s career is over, he will need an addition to his parent’s home to house all of the awards he already has and the additional ones he will receive. “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet.” (BTO)
