    Why didn't Grant play??

Anyone know what's up there? And GJ just got in for the last minute of the game.

Matchups didn't look too suitable for those frosh. That's my view. Illinois could be different.

Honestly I'm hoping this is a sign of things to come when we play big games. Kong's emergence really helps because we have a legit scorer coming off the bench. Olynyk's minutes were down and Vilarino didn't play until the final minute. I believe we are a much better team when we are able to shorten our rotation and rely mainly on Kong and Arop on the bench. I like Kelly O playing 10 minutes or so to give Sacre and Harris some rest, but we shouldn't count on more from him at this point in his career.

I'm hoping it's a sign of things to come against every team the Zags play. The bench needs to be shortened, and the rotation more consistent. I don't think it's healthy for the team to be sticking a guy in there for 14 meaningful minutes who was only played 1 minute the previous game. Until the Zags are up big, there needs to be a core group of guys who go in and out....regardless of the matchups. At a certain point you need to go with your most talented players and stick with them.

          Agree

When Gray and Bouldin play like they did last night supplemented with Arop and Kong, there really are not a lot of minutes to go around for the others.

One of my personal highlights of last night was at the end of the first half. Finally, we closed out a half on a high note with the Kong bomb. Nice!!

...because we need more time for Arop and Kong...and rightfully so

I can't believe Gibbs didn't play due to the opponent, as some are suggesting. He is a great playmaker who would have gotten into the game before G.J. at least. Gibbs must have done something during warmups which made him unable to go into the game last night.

Grant's best assets are his court vision and long range shot. I think with the way the team was moving the ball around (better than any I can recall this season) and with Kong and Co hitting it from outside, they had a good offensive flow going. I'm sure Few wanted to have them keep in that flow as much as possible.

Plus, reading on the SSF, they talked about Few wanting to have a bigger lineup out there against Oklahoma to match their size. Not that Gibbs is small by any means, but Kong and Arop have more length than Gibbs. I'm sure we'll see more of Gibbs the next few games.

Because Kong an Arop are clearly the best 2 players on our bench right now, along with Kelly and Foster for the big guys. When Kong and Arop play like they did last night, there is NO REASON to put in GJ or Gibbs.

                    Gibbs not in uniform???

Just before the opening tipoff the camera turned toward the Gonzaga bench and Gibbs was off to the side. I thought he might have been wearing street clothes. And it peaked my interest. Then, as it turns out, he got no minutes whatsoever. Anyone who was at the game and can confirm whether he was or was not in uniform???? Moreover, if he's injured, what's going on???

I thought he was in uniform, and he did do warmups, but he had a t-shirt on instead of the warm up shirt, so...??

seems like he is pretty bummed he didn't play, here's what he tweeted:

I wasn't there but I think I remember seeing him warm up when they did their pregame stuff. He just had a grey t-shirt on over instead of the warmups. But like I said, wasn't there so I can't be sure

Looks like we saw the same thing.

I don't think the Grant thing is anything worth reading into. Manny was good when in the game, Bol was exceptional, and Matt and Steven did so many great things that their was no point in playing Grant. I'm glad Few didn't take Matt out for Grant late in the game. After that concussion and w/ Illinois tomorrow we need him confident and ready to roll.

I would wager that Grant didn't really mind letting G.J. have that one minute at the end of the game. We all know what G.G. can do. He's got plenty of time, as does G.J.
