went into User CP and searched and found "Latest Reputaion Received." I found it to be a pretty cool part of the GUBoard and one part I haven't used much (not a lot of time to go to those kind of places on the boad). I can see how the feedback is helpful. I'm curious. Does anyone know what the TOTAL POINTS is all about. How does a blogger earn points? What do the points symbolize? Is it good to have a lot of points (as in baketball) or is it bad? How many points is a lot of points? I see that the page shows only some of the posts I've written in December and have receved some feedback on. Is there a way to go backwards into previous months (and perhaps years) to see what others have written. I'm on vacation so I might have some time to read some of these. I find it entertaining. Thanks to you who have written. Even though if you wrote to me prior to this month I never read any of your notes. I promise to check this more regularly now that I know it's available.
I was getting a little bored tonight so I

Reps
There have been several threads since I joined in October, including responses to my questions which were the same as yours
It is better to have more points--unless you are Uber.
You can only look at the last five.
But there are threads that explain it all.

See the "Support" Forum for threads re: reputation.
You can give it and you can get it.
More points is a good thing. Unless you are Uber.
If you give someone a "bad" rep, have a pair and sign it.
Good luck and good repping !The GUB Resource Library: Links to: Stats, Blogs, Brackets, & More. . .

I have not given neg rep, but I always sign mine!
I guess that means I have a pair of "O's".

Thankfully my 163,374,620 points can handle that 1 neg rep, hehe"Sam (Dower's) like porn in a way...you know it when you see it....even though it's hard to quantify."--MDABE80 via gamagin

I think the one thing that needs to be changeD on this board is the whole star rating. As you can see I now have 3 stars even though three different people have given me five stars. It obviously is easy for one person to change the rating of a particular post. This kind of a rating is so subjective and VERY biased that it demeans the quality of this board that I would hope the moderators and Administrators desire. I believe they should get together and make a smart decision to get rid of it. As it is now this rating system clearly exposes the fact that this may be no more than one more "good 'ol boys" board, and therefore keep it from the quality it could be. I am NOT the only one, believe me, who feels this way. There are people who do like my posts, and like to read them. When they want to give me a five star is it really fair for someone else who obviously has never liked me, to come around and change the rating of my post, not once, twice and even more than that. What is UP with this system moderators?????
PLEASE!!! GET RID OF THIS CRAPPY, CHEAP FIVE STAR RATING SYSTEM!!!Go Zags!!! The Best Is Yet To Come!!!

I suggest you spend some of that extra time on vacation in the FOO.
I think you'll find it even more entertaining.
And... you're very welcome. I've sent you green rep many times in the past.
So, just where are you in total rep points, Reborn?

That's impossible, sir! All threads in the Foo are requried to be 5 stars. It's a Foo rule.
Outside the Foo, it really doesn't matter. I don't think many pay much attention to it. Maybe the extreme cases of 4 or 5 stars draws your eye to it, but it doesn't stop me from reading all the other threads.
Now, if you don't see the humor in that.....

It seems to me the thread ratings are just personal vendettas against certain thread starters.
If a thread is ranked 3 to 1, I automatically rate it 5, because I feel everybody's opinion/thread starter is worth something.

My total is 246,230,408 I have no idea what it means because it's never been explained what the points represent. I have now learned that it's good to have more points, but that doesn't help explain how points are earned, and who gives them to you?Go Zags!!! The Best Is Yet To Come!!!

Rep rules, etc
Rep Rules, Rep Points Calculation
Akzag & Rubbadub previously posted this "research" elsewhere; it is posted here as an easy reference for neophyte reppers, idly curious lurkers, and others. . .
The Rules of Rep - As We Know Them; Revised 7-31 -07 ( Originally Posted by AkZag )

Laws; - Those that hold true most of the time
1) Thou art limited to reppin' ten unique users during any 24 hour period
2) Thou must rep 20 unique users before you canst repeat rep
3) Thou canst rep a singular post only once
4) Upon acquiring 100 points, you receive an additional green* box signifying your achievement. An additional box is earned at the 200, 300, 400, and 500 reputation point levels ...
5) After which you must earn 200 ( ? ) additional rep pts to earn your next box, which shall be light green* in color, etc.
6) Certain personages of prestige have titles that you should not dare aspire to ever acquire yourself, so stop dreaming
7) Gray rep is given out by posters with less than 10 rep points or less than 50 posts.
* - for those unfortunate souls destined to have shameful pasts and are on their path towards infamy, the word green should be substituted with red.
Recommendations; - We hold these rules to be self-evident ...
1) To be repped, you must have a post
2) To be repped more than once by any said user, you must have more than one post. See Law # 3
3) To be eligible for the maximum amount of rep, that is to be repped every time you are eligible, it would be prudent to post at least once every two days
4) To avoid frustrating those who wish to reward you with rep,
a) let your presence be known by posting
b) those who rep others, are more likely to receive rep in return
c) those who sign their rep, are more likely to accurately receive rep in return
To calculate how much rep you give: ( Thanks to Rubb for this detective work)
1 pt for each green "rep" box ( Max number of boxes is currently 11 )
1 pt for each 1000 posts,
1 pt for each 100 rep points received after 1000, and,
1 pt for each completed year on the board.
Neg Rep Points = ½ of What your Pos Rep points are.
