My daily Google picked up a couple of German language stories mentioning Elias.

Coach Bauermann Visits to the US Planned: First, on n-tv.de (http://www.n-tv.de/sport/WM-Wildcard-fuer-Basketballer-article637715.html) (google translation here (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.n-tv.de/sport/WM-Wildcard-fuer-Basketballer-article637715.html&ei=5pomS7bPJoTQsgOQhuHgDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CCUQ7gEwCTgo&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%2522Elias%2BHarris%2522%2B-guboards%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26tbo%3Ds%26start%3D40%26tbs% 3Dqdr:d)), a story about the excitement about Germany getting the wildcard bid to the World Cup in Turkey next year.

The last paragraph offers this bit of exciting news for Zag fans:

The National Coach will be flying in January in the United States to meet with Nowitzki and Kaman to. In addition, visits are among the clubs participating in the college league Luca Staiger and Elijah Harris on the program. "We will bring a team to the starting line, which proves that it has received the wildcard cope," said Bauermann.
It's not clear whether he'll actually be in Spokane, or whether he might be attending an away game, such as the Illinois game, however. It would be fun if he came here, though. I'm hoping that's the case.

Coach Bauermann Talks about Elias: The other story, on Spox.com (http://www.spox.com/de/sport/mehrsport/0912/Artikel/interview-dirk-bauermann-dbb-wm-wildcard-dirk-nowitzki-fiba-chris-kaman.html), (google translation here (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=de&u=http://www.spox.com/de/sport/mehrsport/0912/Artikel/interview-dirk-bauermann-dbb-wm-wildcard-dirk-nowitzki-fiba-chris-kaman.html&ei=5pomS7bPJoTQsgOQhuHgDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CBEQ7gEwBDgo&prev=/search%3Fq%3D%2522Elias%2BHarris%2522%2B-guboards%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26channel%3Ds%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN%26tbo%3Ds%26start%3D40%26tbs% 3Dqdr:d)) interviews Coach Bauermann about the bid, and he talks a good bit about the youngsters. Of course, of most interest to me is what he says about Elias:
SPOX: In college, a much talked mainly Elijah Harris of himself. At ESPN, "to be listed among the top 30 of the forward potential draft picks, 2010, in the end he achieved his success at 103:91-Gonzaga-Davidson University on 27 points. Are you surprised by his performance?

Bauermann: That he is a great talent, we knew. At the European Championship, he has already made at the highest level of the test. On the other hand: That he in an elite university in the United States embarks so bombastic and probably one of the best newcomers in the country, is sensational.

SPOX: Robin Benzing also make headlines and the many NBA scouts who drive just for him to Ulm to inspect it. After years of farewell to the German Basketball: Do you see a downside in the hype now beginning to include the young national team?

Bauermann: There's a risk, and it gives me a little worried. But Robin Elias are both good guys and so grounded, that they can cope with the excitement. In my conversations with them to indicate otherwise.

SPOX: Which young German players you trust to the next breakthrough?

Bauermann: When we talk about Robin and Elijah, we need to lose a word about Bamberg Center Tibor Pleiß. His chances of playing at the highest level in Europe or overseas, are similarly good.
Vote for Elias to be the first to make the NBA! In the German language version of the second story linked here (http://www.spox.com/de/sport/mehrsport/0912/Artikel/interview-dirk-bauermann-dbb-wm-wildcard-dirk-nowitzki-fiba-chris-kaman.html), below the picture of the team on the left, you can vote for the German player you think will be the first to play in the NBA. (I tried it in the translated version and it doesn't work there.) When I voted, this is how it looked:

I hope he approves of the way Few is using him. :)

Maybe Fewie's not answering his Coaching Tips Hotline, so face-to-face is the only way he figures he can bend his ear ...

Maybe the German coach can bring along another topnotch GU prospect?! Steer him this a'way too?! Tell him, "Gonzaga University is really, really good! Really! The best!" (except in German)

34 and counting.

The mention of Neumann reminds me of the curious case of Enes Kanter. ZN, what ever become of him?

Go ZAGS, get bigs!

Kanter is a UW commit -- with speculation he'll be on campus (and on their team) next month. Both of Enes' parents are University professors, and he has his degree.

I would vote AGAINST Elias being the first to make the NBA. Like, say, not for four years or so.

Elias is now at 35%. To those who hate a Zag losing any contest, the link is here (http://www.spox.com/de/sport/mehrsport/0912/Artikel/interview-dirk-bauermann-dbb-wm-wildcard-dirk-nowitzki-fiba-chris-kaman.html) to vote.

Elias says, "What? A Zaga fan didn't vote for me?????"

Elias is at 39% this morning. I was hoping to see him pass 40%.

And there is a reason why Elias is slow to smile. No one told him before he left his relentlessly tidy Germany about the heartbreak of the average American college student's room:

From a story in The Gonzaga Bulletin (http://www.gonzagabulletin.com/sports/passt-auf-harris-ist-angekommen-1.952516) about Elias after the WSU game,
“Elias is very mature for his age. On the court he doesn’t look like a freshman,” Steven Gray said.

That maturity might extend beyond the court, however, showing a little different reason why the forward leading his team in rebounding and second in scoring isn’t “just a regular freshman.”

“He has seen our rooms all messy and he gets this sad look on his face,” Gray said, laughing. “You go into his room and everything is organized.”

I know, I know, it's a worry, and that's even without the unclipped, unshaven personal grooming of some of his teammates, Mr. Gray most notably ....
