Looking at GT rise 6 spots without playing a game...does anyone know what the greatest rise in the polls without playing a game that week is?

            East Coast Bias

            These Huskies have beat:
            Wright State
            Belmont
            Portland State
            San Jose State
            Montana
            Cal State Northridge

to go 6-2. With this type of record, how are they ranked so low (#24th in the nation)?!?. The better win 2 out of the next 3 vs. Portland, Texas A&M, and San Francisco if they want to get back in the top ten.

Kiddwell's very happy about this (very happy!), but wonders How On Earth do we jump so high after beating Augustana (Div. III) and letting Davidson score 91 points on us?

              :]

Probably because almost every team for 6 or so spots in front of us lost last week, to not so great opponents.

Wisconsin out of both polls. Cincinnati out of one and barely hanging on in another. Memphis, Wake Forest, WSU, Saint Mary's, Illinois along with Cincy and Wisconsin receiving votes in one or both (along with Duke and Michigan State of course). The schedule's remaining pretty formidable so far.

The Wake Forest loss has really not hurt us all that much. The Wake Forest win heleped them some, but not as much as it would have if Harris had not been ejected from the game. I think the fact that the Zags played so well with Matt on the bench against Davidson also helped. We scored our most points of the year by far, against a team that has traditionally been good defensively. I think the way we beat Davidson was impressive. They were EXTREMEMLY hot from beyond the 3, and not just the coaches son. ALL OF THEM. That was, most likely Davidson's best game of the year, and they were probably inspired when they learned that Matt was not going to play. But the Zags responded differently than they did agaist Wake. Instead of going into a funk, 3 of the Zags responded with their career bests in scoring.

What I am hoping for, in terms of the polls, is that if the Zags can be seen as the "Best in the West" (from Lavin) than we will be seeded in the West Region and will hopefully get our first two games in Spokane. If we can beat Duke, it will go a long ways in getting a #2 seed in the West, and hopefully against the fourth #1 seed.

Where is the West Regionals being held this year?
Go Zags!!! The Best Is Yet To Come!!!

We did it w/out Bouldin and a young roster.

The polls usually punish a team more if they lose than reward a team for winning. So I believe ZagNut08 has it correct.

I'm sure Husky Fan will say the rise in the polls is just a conspiracy to increase the CBS's potential TV rating on the game vs. Dook.

These wins were all home games. It probably plays into consideration that their only 2 away games were losses.

So true. If they had to play the same grueling schedule on the road and come out with the same record they'd probably be #1 in the nation.
