Worst case:2-2----3-1 would not hurt us a bit----4-0 We're top ten material. I see Illinois as the trap game

I just hope 9 days is enough to prep for EWU

Strictly a guess but my gut is saying 2-2.

Very close game with Duke-could go either way.

Not sure about Ok and Ill.

I'd love to see 4-0. I think one we need to "get" is Duke. Big profile win in MSG would look real nice. Gotta beat EWU and Okie too. Illinois worries me a bit.

Eastern Washington: 4-5
Big Win: Whitworth (100-88)
Big Losses: UP (by six); WSU (by six)

Duke: 7-1
Big Win: UConn (68-59)
Big Loss: Wisconsin (73-69)

Oklahoma: 7-3
Big Wins: Arizona (79-62); Utah (78-73 OT)
Big Losses: USD (76-64); VCU (82-69)

Illinois: 8-2
Big Wins: Vandy (76-68); Clemson (76-74)
Big Losses: Utah (60-58); Bradley (72-68)

Duke is the Big Question Mark. Illinois? According to the Big Ten preseason show, Illinois is on paper the most talented team in the conference. We'd better be ready.

Predictions:
We beat Eastern handily, pull away from Oklahoma, hang tough with Duke (which means: could go either way), really focus against Illinois and whip 'em.

I agree. I think the dreaded curse of the post-finals performance raises it's head at MSG and it gets ugly for our heroes. I just hope that this team doesn't let that affect they way they play the rest of the month, because the next stretch will be the most challenging of the whole schedule - not just the big OOC tilts, but also the beginning of conference play with some tough, hungry teams waiting on the road.

Worst 1-3 adding OK to the loss

If we go 4-0 I still have a shot at my 28-3 record leading into the tourney. I will say I thought we would have won that Wake game and lost this Duke game so I am a little nervous!

My reason says, we should go 3-1. I would consider 2-2 underachieving for the 14th best team in the nation!

4-0 means my kids get extra stuff from Santa because I will be in the best mood!

we will can be 3-1. We can beat the Illini. Even at their home court.

Hopefully 4-0. To go to Durham and win will be one of our greatest wins.

Amended to admit error: Sorry guys, I keep thinking it is a home game for them! THANKS FOR THE NEG REP though!!!

I'm not sure why so many fans are so bearish on this year's team. I see two of our next four opponents (UI and OU) as solid, but not as good as Gonzaga. EWU, while not terrible, is, of course, no match for Gonzaga, and I see Duke and Gonzaga as near equals. My prediction is an emphatic 4-0, and I'll be terribly upset at anything less than 3-1. A 1-3 stretch would be cataclysmic.

The Illinois game is in Chicago and Duke is @ MSG. So getting a win in Durham would be REALLY impressive if we could pull that off this season. ;)

The Zags could go 3-1 as easily as they could go 1-3.

IF Elias/Rob are able to stay on the floor and out of foul trouble, I believe we'll beat Duke on Saturday. However, if the refs get whistle-happy with our bigs, the Zags could be in for a very long night, especially considering Duke is a terrific offensive rebounding team with amazing free-throw shooters. Everyone knows and accepts that Duke has an uncanny ability to draw fouls on the opposing team's best players. I'm not sure if its refs playing favorites on Duke's behalf or they just execute their gameplan to perfection. Either way, the Zags need to play within themselves and keep Duke off the foul line since they shoot 80% from FT as a team! Wow. I have a bad feeling that Elias or Rob will foul out in this type of game as they are naturally more aggresive than Duke's bigs and the officials won't reward us for hustle plays.

My gut tells me that our chances of winning the next four games are:
Duke 40%
EWU 95%
OK 80%
Il 60%

So can we win 2.75 of the next four? Ill really concerns me. We spank OK and EWU, but a quick turn around after the OK game will maginify the matchup challenges Ill presents. Three games in six days, with each game being progessively more difficult concerns me. The upside is we have a long break after Duke for the kids to apply all of the lessons they have learned during the first third of the season.

HONESTLY: 4-0. If not 3-1.

Chances of winning.....

Duke: 50% chance

EWU: 95% chance

Oklahoma: 80% chance

Illini: 65% chance

Im really believing we can go 4-0.

I'm going to say 2-2. The stretch after that -- at Portland, at Saint Mary's, at San Diego -- is what really worries me.

You guys giving Oklahoma short shrift better look out. They had a rough start with a very young team and they have settled down with a 4 guard lineup. Tiny Gallon is a 290 lb load that can play the post pretty well for a freshman. He's just one of 3 "burger boys". Sacre will have a tough time against Gallon. Warren and Crocker can fill it up. This will be a tough out for the Zags. The Zags can win this but only if the defense shines.

4-0 I am more worried about Illinois than Duke. When it is all said and done, I think Wake will be better than Duke. So far Duke has had one grind it out game with Bucky and lost it. Uconn played very badly against Duke.

The IL. game will come down to whose outstanding newbies will be on that night. Like us, the illini newbies can look anywhere from outstanding to "haven't learned the system yet". Don't like the fact that we will only be 36 hrs.,a cross country flight+in totally hostile crowd away from finishing with a very physical OK. team. We can do this but it will take all we got!

I think Duke won the Preseason NIT??? I'll have to look it up now, but I would say that is pretty darn impressive. Wisconsin is a good team (who we beat), so I don't want to tarnish our win by saying it was a bad loss for Duke.

We can beat Duke, but we must play our best game and Mark Few needs to coach his best game because the guy on the other side is one of the greatest of all time whether you like him or not, you have to admit it.
