Frank Burgess "The Great One" is a great part of Gonzaga history and it was nice to see him honored at the Davidson game. He was an all American player, leading scorer in the nation, played pro basketball, became an attorney, judge and a federal judge appointed by Bill Clinton. My dad, who was with the GU team when Frank was there, always thought of Frank Burgess as the shining example of what it meant to be a Gonzaga student-athlete.

I loved the Decade of Excellence DVD although stories about Frank Burgess and John Stockton, for example, remind me that GU basketball didn't just start 10 years ago. GU basketball history extends back many decades with some great players including some of the best people a current GU fan would ever want to meet.

Below is a link to a summary of Frank's very impressive accomplishments:

That was great to see, and he still has a high basketball IQ. I enjoyed his analysis of this team. You can tell Frank is proud of his alma mater and what the basketball program has accomplished.

What a great guy.

Matt Santangelo and Errol Knight were also "spotlighted" and introduced to the crowd on the screen above the court. Of course my eagle eyed wife spotted Errol on the concourse long before the game. She has a pretty sharp eye for those Zags. Errol actually enjoyed the game just down from us. Not sure where Santangelo sat, couldn't figure out where the spotlight on him was.

Mid court about 5 or 6 rows up from the scorer's table.

Frank Burgess has always come to the Tacoma Chapter events and is the definintion of what it means to be a gentlemen. First class all the way.

Where'd he get the front row seats??????????

The alumni event before the game was very well attended, lots of Zag fans of all ages.

Errol Knight sat right in front of me and constantly jumped up to cheer...no complaint from me - I loved his enthusiasm and jumped up right behind him.
And I was impressed after watching the game on video Sunday how much Frank Burgess knows about the current Zags. He's a true fan!
