It was a joke.
A funny.
Ha-Ha.
Not his real name.

Sorry but it's like nails on a chalkboard.

several weeks ago. He said Bobby became an inside joke between himself and some friends when dealing with a professor at GU. The professor bit and started calling him Bobby, which was a big laugh for his friends.

RS told the story and seemed to enjoy it and even added it wasn't bad being known as Bobby, like Hockey great Bobby orr and a few others.

He certainly wasn't put off by the story or the name in this interview, anyway.

Go BOBBY !

Go TEAM Zags !

I agree totally. Not the first time around here alternate names have been used for players. Seldom if ever have we had video confirmation the name was actually coined by the player himself much less having his blessing to boot. I don't remember alternate monikers bothering too many in the past on the forums. I don't understand the consternation.
I know the story and like calling him Bobby.

any choice of name should have, "Big" as it's predecessor.

Not a "gameface" title this "Robby" name. Sounds like a chubby 11 yr old with a quaint set of namegiving cousins. Not befitting a 7 ft 250lb wrecking machine. Adult names puullllleeeeessse!

We need CaliforniaZaggin' to do a Ricky Bobby quote (it helps to see Ferrell)

I think if Bobby Sacre gets his choice between Bobby and Francis it is Bobby 100 out of 100 times.

Not that there is anything wrong with Francis mind you! Frankie Sacre just doesn't roll of the tongue as well as Bobby Sacre.

Kiddwell stands corrected. (Took Spanish & German...a little bit of Swedish. Can count to five in Japanese. No French.) :)

Calling Rob, Bobby is way better than calling Steven, Stephen. Now that drives me nuts. LOL.

Go Bobby, Go Zags!!!

That's what I always do as I'm wriggling my fingers during his free throws...

c'mon Roe-bear!

(maybe if I stopped that, his free throw shooting would improve :o . Perhaps I should do a test run of the Bobby thing.)

I like Rob or Robert. But can't say I call him by anything other than "hottie" when he's playing. Yummers.

You are so predictable!:D

When I see your posts in a Sacre thread, I know we can count on the word "hot" or "hottie" to come up at least once. :lmao:

You go, Girl!

No.....ESPN just perpetuated the "Bobby Sacre" reference.
Oh it hurts so bad.
Ellis just said when talking about Rob "Robert Sacre, who by the way wants to be called Bobby Sacre".....
