Zag fans beware... remember that we are watching student athletes and December bring final exams. Final exams take focus for all students, but especially freshman students who have never experienced finals at the collegiate level. We are relying on a lot of freshman for key minutes this year... it's going to be an interesting December.

In the past 3 seasons, here's how Gonzaga has fared around finals and the holidays:

2006-2007
(1-4)

12/9 - GU 97 / EwDub 78 (WIN) - home
12/16 - Georgia 96 / GU 83 (LOSS) - away
12/21 - Duke 61 / GU 54 (LOSS) - neutral/MSG
12/30 - Nevada 82 / GU 74 (LOSS) - neutral/BIS
1/3 - Virginia 108 / GU 87 (LOSS) - away

2007-2008
(4-2)

12/8 - GU 85 / CS Northridge 59 (WIN) - home
12/17 - GU 77 / N. Colorado 57 (WIN) - home
12/20 - Oklahoma 72 / GU 68 (LOSS) - neutral/OKC
12/29 - Tennessee 82 / GU 72 (LOSS) - neutral/BIS
12/31 - GU 61 / Utah 59 (WIN) - home
1/5 - GU 75 / Georgia 67 (WIN) - home

2008-2009
(3-4)

12/10 - GU 74 / WSU 52 (WIN) - away
12/14 - Arizona 69 / GU 64 (LOSS) - neutral/Phoenix
12/18 - GU 84 / Texas Southern 42 (WIN) - home
12/20 - UConn 88 / GU 83 (LOSS) - neutral/BIS
12/23 - PSU 77 / GU 70 (LOSS) - home
12/31 - Utah 66 / GU 65 (LOSS) - away
1/7 - GU 89 / Tennessee 79 (WIN) - away

In the past 3 seasons the Zags have missed on some BIG opportunities around this time of year. This is a very difficult time of year to stay focused on the basketball court, but also a very critical time of year for Gonzaga's schedule. Games against Duke, Oklahoma, and Illinois are going to have a lot of impact on the Zags in March. Good luck to the Zags! They have completely surprised me so far this season; hopefully the trend continues.

Go Zags!

This BiS is a trap game, as is the EWU game later this month.

I agree that Davidson and EWU are trap games, but I like the fact we will be playing at home or close to home. The Georgia game a couple of years back before the MSG game against Duke looked much worse on the schedule. I know we lost to PSU last year at home, and the Kennel without the student section is definitely not as intimidating. The Zags are going to have to stay focused.

I'm more worried about the back-to-back Oklahoma and Illinois games... not much time to put the Oklahoma game in the rearview and get over to Chicago to face Illinois. Those are our last two OOC games before embarking on a 3 game road swing to open the WCC against possibly the top 3 contenders in the conference this year.

Go Zags!

Agreed. The OK-Ill games in three days will be the ultimate.
