SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Gonzaga University senior guard Matt Bouldin is the West Coast Conference men's basketball Co-Player of the Week for his efforts in the Bulldogs split with Washington State University and Wake Forest University.
Omar Samhan of Saint Mary's College was the other co-recipient.
Bouldin scored a career-high 28 points against WSU as the Bulldogs battled from a 15-point deficit to come back for a 74-69 victory. He went 8-for-15 from the field against the Cougars, including 7-for-12 from 3-point range. The seven 3-pointers were also a career high.
Against Wake Forest, the native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., scored 22 points, going 6-for-12 from the field, as the Bulldogs almost overcame a double-digit deficit for the fourth time in five games before the Demon Deacons prevailed 77-75.
For the week Bouldin scored 50 points for a 25.0 ppg average, went 14-for-27 from the field for 51.9 percent, 9-for-18 from 3-point range for 50.0 percent and 13-for-16 from the free throw line for 81.3 percent. He also grabbed 9 rebounds, had 6 assists a block and 3 steals.
Bouldin now has 1,316 career points to rank 18th and needs 25 points to move past John Stockton, 23 to move past Cory Violette and 15 to surpass Bill Suter and climb to 15th.
