Buried in the Seattle Times story on the Mariners acquiring Chone Figgins was this statement: "If the Mariners were to sign another, higher-ranked Type A free agent from another team — they've looked into acquiring Boston left fielder Jason Bay — then that club would get the first round pick and the Angels would receive a second-round choice as compensation for Figgins."
