Enjoy the holiday, be thankful for what you have, drive safely and remember that this edition of Zags is talented and promising with great future potential with all the pieces to do special things at Gonzaga...
...but there are ten (10) players who never played a minute of D-1 basketball before five games ago, the majority of players who had never even met each other in person until last summer, new roles to be learned, new personalities and traits for the coaches to adjust to (and vice-versa), and a defense and offense that has not been fully installed yet.
All of that on the heels of losing five seniors and the 15th pick in the NBA draft! Four of those six were starters. And for all their flaws, that Zag team did win the Old Spice Classic, beat Tennessee twice, swept through the WCC, earned a 4 seed and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen, only to lose to a juggernaut Tar Heels team.
Yet, here we Zag fans are, expecting to win the Maui Invitational with a wide-eyed kid from Kamloops often as the first player off the bench.
I'm just saying, keep perspective. It's November. If the guys win, fantastic; if the guys lose, they went 2-1 and finished second. Either way, it'll be a job very well done by Few & Co. and the fellas.
But most of all--
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYBODY!!!
